True romance is in the eye of the beholder.

She Shades Her Eyes

by Frank Jauregui

Butterflies kiss her flaxen hair and everywhere the sunlight brightly dances.
Still, she wonders…, is this what romance is?
Flowers cling to her gold locks, escape the slow drying, and dying of the green grass blades which birthed them.
She shades her eyes believing too much pain; too much joy, too much life might hurt them
But true danger lies in shadows - cunningly it hides like a snake in the shade of the tall grass!
In ecstasy, she gasps…,
 this is what romance is!
