He Loves Me or He Loves Me Not

by Y. M. Roger

Pert and young and full of life
Without concerns or fear of strife
When loss of youth’s not worth a thought…
He loves me or he loves me not.

Careers can sometimes take their toll
And innocence is not quite whole
Those dreams of chase, they’re not yet caught…
He loves me or he loves me not.

Beyond the age where new love’s spell
No longer captivates so well
Mixed with suspicion life has taught…
He loves me or he loves me not.

Jaded, perhaps, but not forlorn
Convinced that there’s no unicorn
Those lucky stars still have a shot…
He loves me or he loves me not.

Time’s hands are beyond fam’ly time
Though full of life, ‘tis past its prime
But heart and smile, they’re megawatt…
He loves me or he loves me not.

Chances at love, they come and go
The how or why we’ll never know
‘Tis one thing sure in cupid’s shot:
He’ll love you or he’ll love you not!
