Prologue
I Yearn for True Love

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:Presentation and Poem by Gypsy Blue Rose (c) copyright 1/3/25

I yearn for true love

and die every night

missing it til dawn

I wait each morn in vain

for your romantic poems

of passion and ache

our affair is like a flower

that fades away

in the horizon

I yearn for true love

She Struts the CatWalk

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:Presentation and Poem by Gypsy Blue Rose (c) copyright 1/13/25

on sky-high heels

wearing a leather jumpsuit

she dreams

to strut the catwalk

≈♦≈

drenched with shame

and rain

wishing it could cleanse

the stench of a hard life

≈♦≈

the wet pavement

reflects a better world

beneath the cobblestones

and puddles remind her

of innocent child games

Author Notes I don't know where this came from.... lol

Chapter 2
The Sleeping Tiger

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:exercise on addiction - presentation and poem by gypsy blue rose (c)

the past drifts along a putrid creek
as sorrow waves goodbye
from the muddy riverbanks

the heart barely remains afloat
carried away by raging rapids
aiming for the immense sea
of a wasted life

raw childhood memories
burn like salt on open wounds
cut by the broken glass
of bottles across a filthy floor
with dirty needles here and there
waiting for the next time

my name is nobody
and I'm an addict

Author Notes fictional free verse - an exercise on addiction

Sleeping Tiger is a saying AA or NA members say, it means that even after an alcoholic or addict stops using he/she/they always have the dormant illness inside.

cool breeze

through her black hair

in a vacuous starless night

she carries the vast weight of life

on her marble-cold back

c o n t e m p l a t i n g

to step off  the ledge

her last thought was what he said

“she is a better fit”

Chapter 4
We The People

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:Presentation and Poem by Gypsy Blue Rose (c) copyright 2/3/25

T h e     O r a n g e     A g e

There was a dumb king named Chump

in the greatest nation among all lands

until he won and ‘We the People” loss

~♦~

He was a big fan of golf courses,

gold, power, bankruptcies,

and anyone who kissed his arse.

~♦~

He was obsessed

with conquering and over-taxing,

countries who once were our allies.

~♦~

Following the example of tyrant dictators

like Omar Al Bashir, Putin, Kim Jong Un,

who laughed at his expense behind his back

~♦~

His Lord Chancellor, Dark Maga Musk

gave him ill advice

and was an avaricious no good scum

hungry for power and crypto cash.

~♦~

The rest of the King’s troupe

were incompetent fools

mostly billionaires or hosts at Fox News.

~♦~

The Kingdom was headed for disaster

while King Chump was drunk with power,

and his imperial subjects

watched their country burn and crumble.

Author Notes Free verse with some near rhymes

The Orange Age is mockery of the Golden Age. The Golden Age is a period of great happiness, prosperity, and achievement.

Chapter 5
Deep End of the Sea

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:Presentation and Poem by Gypsy Blue Rose (c) copyright 2/19/25

to see you naked

is to remember

the shore’s smooth sand dunes

as the sentinel reeds stand tall

guarding your beauty and soul

to see you naked

is to understand the rain’s longing

to touch your satin peach skin

and the ocean’s implore

to plunge into the deep end of sea

your belly is a promise of life

your lips are plump, ripe, and sweet

your mother hips move

to the rhythm of whimsical tides

tempting me to leap into your love

Chapter 6
Robin Hood Wanted

By Gypsy Blue Rose

The time has come

King X and his court jester D

have robbed the poor

to gift the avaricious rich.

>⇒

WANTED:

We need a Robin Hood

brave and with excellent aim

an expert archer with bow and arrows

to eliminate hate and division

and stand for truth and justice

>⇒

He must have faith in God,

Jesus would not stand

for giving to the rich

and taking from the poor

He was unquestionably against

the greedy, corrupted, richest on earth

Author Notes
-- Avaricious= is greed of gain; excessively acquisitive especially in seeking to hoard riches

The House of republican Representatives has passed the fiscal budget making huge cuts to benefit the richest billionaires in our country. Medicare, Medicare, Social Security and social security disability insurance will be slashed. Programs that affect the majority of Americans, mostly elders and disable people. One out of five Americans have medicade.

What does it mean for people like me and you? I am disabled and my only source of income is SSID which I paid for in wages throughout my life. I also depend on medicaid Health Care Insurance, without it I can get very sick and die.

70 million retired elders and disabled people receive SSI or SSDI. What is going to happen to them? If Elon and Donald have their way, our economy will collapse. Health care companies would lose a huge part of their income.

70 million SSI and SSDI individuals expend money on health care, housing, food, utilities, clothes, cars, gas, etc. Also, our homeless population would increase in tremendous numbers. How would our communities deal with that? I am not even counting all the fired Federal employees, policemen, teachers, firemen, and VETERANS. Employers will be hurt too.

What is happening to our country? Our freedom means something. The Statue of Liberty used to welcome immigrants from around the world, with open arms. But now Donald Trump is selling "Residency Gold Cards" for five million dollars! One more rip-off along with trump bibles, MAGA hats, t-shirts, Donald Trump collector play cards, alcohol, coins, casinos, a football league, and the list goes on.

Our country and our freedom are up for sale. Trump admitted in an interview in the Oval Office that he would welcome Russians if they had the money to buy the 5 million Golden Card. This corrupted and incompetent man aims to be a king or a dictator like Putin, Hitler, Kim Jong Un, and others. He called Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky a dictator and sided with Putin in his war.

Thank you very much for your excellent review and kind words.

Chapter 7
Where her Spirit Soars

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Death’s black cloak

covers your cold body

lying on the bed at your wake

with jasmine in your hair

it fills my heart with ache

 ≈♦≈

Death's sharp claws

slash my sanity and hope

while I fight valiantly

for memories of you at home

≈♦≈

I will remain by your side

until your ashes take flight

and your soul soars

over lands and sea

but you'll always be in my heart

Chapter 8
Oceans of Time

By Gypsy Blue Rose

oceans of time

will not keep us apart

we share the same moon and stars

you’re the warm breeze

playing with my hair

and the ardent sun

that sets my heart aflame

you’re the sultry scent

of golden barley fields

in the summer rain

our hands touch

palm to palm

yours bigger than mine

makes me feel small

but cherished and adored

~ I peacefully rest in your love ~

Chapter 9
The Valley of Unrest

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Dalia sits alone in darkness

one who once was happy

now trembles with uncertainty

and fear of what lies ahead

the president and his men

follow Elon Musk's evil plan

while we struggle

to feed the hungry

and house the  poor

the republicans

have kissed the president's ring

too afraid to stand

for truth, democracy, and justice

40 million poor await their fate

afraid to lose their Medicaid

and social security checks

and Donald Trump doesn’t care

from Dalia's dark empty room

she watches the azure stars

and brilliant moon

beautiful during feast or famine

She prays to her loving God

but wonders if suffering

is unavoidable

some Americans must admit

the truth about their president

guilty of our country's restlessness

headed to the unavoidable precipice

while the world watches in disbelief

what we have become

Author Notes The title, Valley of Unrest, is Edgar Allan Poe's poem He inspires me. Edgar suffered from Chronic Depression.

Free Verse about our country's president's failure to govern our country. America is headed to an economic crash, and people without medical care and possible homelessness for many people who depend on their SSI or SSDI to survive.

The point of view is that of a disabled woman, Dalia, who depends on medication and medical treatment to stay alive. In two weeks, she, and many others, will find out if Elon's Doge will cut-off their social security checks, delate them, or decrease that amount. Also, there will be cuts to Medicaid, the medical care that millions depend on. Elon Musk has access to our personal information, and with that they can manipulate SSI checks. With a lack of income and medical care, she could die. Do you think Trump and Elon Musk will take responsibility for what is to come? The cost of food and other necessities is increasing and the stock market is crashing. The tariff wars are going to throw us into a recession.

Thank you,

Gypsy

Chapter 10
Tempestuous Northern Winds

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Brave Soldiers Fight

midst tempestuous winds

over their war-torn

Ukrainian motherland

her arms push away Russia

and her feet are knee-deep

in the Black Sea's

menacing wuthering waves

Mother Nature Dreams of Peace

both countries' cotton fields

waving peace- white scarves

to the passing clouds

their winds shake hands

Prayers

old babusias pray for peace

and winds of change

amidst the serene songs

of divine symphony

Author Notes Wuthering = to blow with a dull roaring sound
Babusia = grandmother in Ukrainian. sound: Bah-boo-syah.
Wave a white flag = symbolizes a universal gesture of peace and surrender.

Thank you for reading and reviewing my poem. I'm thinking about Ukrainians and praying for their peace.

Chapter 11
My Heart Feels the Rise

By Gypsy Blue Rose

my heart feels the rise
of the flaming sun
with the torturing ache
of an impossible love
we could have had

.
.
every night I'm a prisoner
of your mysterious ways
the way the full moon
caresses your bare skin
and dew shines on your hair
.
.
thousands of stars
shine in your eyes
and your lips await mine ajar
with a taste of sweet wine
I'm drunk with your taste
.
.
by dawn's light
seeds of sadness
grow in my heart
because it's time
to wake up

Author Notes no more holding back
be reckless
share your love
with everyone - Rumi

Gogyohka is a five-line Japanese poetic form with no strict rules on syllable count but as brief as possible. You may use any theme. Lines are grammatically connected. Alliteration, personification, and metaphor are okay. It usually doesn't rhyme, but natural not forced rhymes are okay. Japanese poets have written gogyohka since the 1910s. However, they did not name the form until 1983 by poet Enta Kusakabe. source = writers digest

Chapter 12
Letter from the Ledge

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:fictional poem (suicide theme 'trigger warning) dedicated to Dean Kuch RIP

here I am in the dark

waiting on the ledge

for a sign that never comes

nobody understands

what I feel inside

and how dark is my life

there hasn't been

anyone in my corner

for a long time

I live a useless existence

and I don't have a reason

to go on

I have given it

a lot of thought

and made a decision at last

I freed my bird

and for my cat I found a good home

there's nobody else to let go

I don't have friends or family left

and I'm invisible to the rest

I wonder how long till I'm found

so for whoever finds me

consider this poem

my suicide note

I can't go on

I can't live with this pain

it's too much to bear

but out of darkness

God told me to hold on

and wait for the light

Author Notes Fictional Free Verse Poem inspired lightly by personal experience. I suffer from bipolar disorder with short manic episodes and long depressive episodes. I have been chronically depressed several times in my life, sometimes as long as three years at a time, so I know how it feels. But it's never been as bad as the poem. I have family, friends, and God to help me through. I feel bad for those who don't have anybody in their lives. It's easy to feel like giving up if you don't have a support system. Depression is a dangerous and deceiving illness. It's a chemical imbalance in the brain. At the time, you feel hopeless and in so much pain that suicide seems the only way to go. Luckily, bipolar disorder is treatable, and with the right medication, you can live a normal life. If you are or know of someone dealing with depression, pass on the information below and tell them, "Don't give up, it gets better."

Chapter 13
Spain

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Spain

my faraway land

where I grew up

I left a piece of my heart behind

on lands of olive trees and old vineyards

surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea

 fields of red poppies await

but only my spirits roam

the cobblestone streets

Spanish artists drip passion

spreading the language of love

and fire

painters’ brush strokes

canvas and walls

I feel art in my heart and soul

Author Notes I grew up in Spain, a beautiful country full of history and art culture. I was 16 years old when I moved to America. I'm an American citizen. Although I would like to move back to Spain, especially now, I would never leave my children and grandchildren. I love America, but in some respects, I am stuck in the middle. Many immigrants feel that way.

Gypsy Moon

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Author Note:Presentation and Poem by Gypsy Blue Rose (c) copyright 4/2/25

shimmering silver lake

surrounded by mellow willow trees

are shrouded with hazy mist

the surface is teeming

with moonlight, sparkling stars,

and flickering fireflies

a boat sails through wavering waters

where stirring solefish schools elude

hooks of pain and certain death

sprawling across the shore

lush flowers and slender reeds grow

buzzing with life

beneath the gypsy moon

melancholic nightingales sing

for the smoldering dawn

Author Notes Tercet free verse about nature using rich imagery and alliteration.

Chapter 15
Tumultuous Tempest Tyranny

By Gypsy Blue Rose

tumultuous tempest tyranny

rages through continents and seas

breaking boulders with ease

inert stones do not complain

as they are decimated slowly

with global trade winds

earthquakes roar and rage

pushing ally mountains away

and destroying old bonds

as the world watches in horror

 the distruction

of        t a r i f f       wars

Author Notes "When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty." - Thomas Jefferson

Global and Trade are types of winds

There are 7 continents: North America, Asia, South America, Antarctica, Africa, Europe, and Oceania

There are 5 oceans in the world: the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Southern Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean.

Free Verse using lowercase, no punctuation, metaphor, and simile. I covered the five senses.
