I love writing, I enjoy creative writing... I am passionate about writing poetry. There is freedom in writing. Writing can allow the writer and its audience to understand just about anything. Even if it is just a simple observation from life or artwork.
But writing poetically is allowed to be a full commentary, emotionally insane, spiritually enlightening or even researched. Categorize all you'd like, but I prefer to keep things simple, because I am not analyzing the covid pandemic or wars. Embrace the subjects that you enjoy.
And National Poetry Writing Month has rolled around once again. I can not promise delivering poetry on the main theme. However, I might have captured the essence of it best in this prologue to kickstart NaPoWriMo April 2022.
By the way, this year the national and/or global theme is "getting to the heart of things".
Obviously, "duhhHHH!".
Oh wait, I dedicate this collection of poetry to family, friends, acquaintances, readers, writers, poets, supporters and everyone that holds love in their heart.
"Let's do this!"
Love always,

The pizza delivery man was walking to his car counting money. He folded his dollars into his pocket and tossed out a couple cents. As he started the car, his favorite Lady Gaga song came on... "Fold 'em, let 'em hit me, raise it, baby, stay with me...". He couldn't drive now. He stayed in the parking lot and blared the air conditioner coupled with music to karaoke, "Poker Face". Gino was aware of everything around him. The people understood. They do worst than him. He don't care. And suddenly, he caught a little girl, that clung into her mother's arm, she stared blank face at him. He watched as her mother put her to sit on a raised flower bed. Her mother had to use the atm vestibule. The little girl couldn't watch him anymore, but he had a clear view of her. She looked away from her mother. He could see the side of her face. Her eyes grew surprised... She sat up straight and watched her mother's back again. Suddenly, she started to wriggle her body closer to some flowers. She reached back without turning, but it wasn't for the flowers. A quiet arm wrangle pulled her into the flower bed. She was immediately a mess. Her mother was finished with the money business. She turned to her daughter, "Alice! Alice, what are you doing now?"! The excited little girl replied, "Mommy, I found some money!". The mother picked her daughter up and smacked off some dirt. Then, she put her child in her arms and reached for the money. The little girl grew very restless and undecided on where to look next. Her mother inspected the money, "Two cents, Alice. You're a wealthy woman, because they might be made of copper. We'll have to check on the internet about this when we get home.". She gave her daughter the two pennies, "Do not eat them. You get tired of holding them put them in your pocket. Do you hear me?". The little girl was estatically happy, "I won't get tired of holding them mommy. I promise.". Pizza man realized he was on another song. This one by Katy Perry, "I kissed a girl and I liked it...". He watched the mother and her child walk into the grocery store. He turned the car off. He looked around in all the car compartments for find some more coins. He walked over to the flowerbed and sprinkled some more pennies in there. He picked a penny back up. He immitated that mother as he placed his arm up to the sunlight and inspected both sides of that penny. It was shiny. It was new. He held a smile on his face and contentment in his heart as he place his new lucky penny into his pizza cap.

"The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea"
They held adventure with laughter and glee.
"In a beautiful pea-green boat,"
That Owl's father bought from a goat.
"They took some honey, and plenty of money,"
To be energy bunnies, and it was funny.
"Wrapped up in a five-pound note,"
Because it made sense to wear a light coat.

This was my first time writing a glosa poem. I kept it simple with a line per line match for a couplet poem. Maybe, I'll write another poem more complex with 1 line explained in 4 lines.
The Owl and the Pussy-Cat BY EDWARD LEAR I The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea In a beautiful pea-green boat, They took some honey, and plenty of money, Wrapped up in a five-pound note. The Owl looked up to the stars above, And sang to a small guitar, "O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love, What a beautiful Pussy you are, You are, You are! What a beautiful Pussy you are!" II Pussy said to the Owl, "You elegant fowl! How charmingly sweet you sing! O let us be married! too long we have tarried: But what shall we do for a ring?" They sailed away, for a year and a day, To the land where the Bong-Tree grows And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood With a ring at the end of his nose, His nose, His nose, With a ring at the end of his nose. III "Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling Your ring?" Said the Piggy, "I will." So they took it away, and were married next day By the Turkey who lives on the hill. They dined on mince, and slices of quince, Which they ate with a runcible spoon; And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand, They danced by the light of the moon, The moon, The moon, They danced by the light of the moon. "No coward soul is mine"
I was born a woman
I am a proud woman
My soul is old and hard
And I am versed with bard.
"No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere"
My body and soul, coupled, holds no fear...
I am a strong woman and that is clear.
This world is a much bigger place than I...
Storms grow me stronger and I go higher.
"I see Heaven's glories shine"
I see the skies and its clouds...
The sky in its shades of blue
And the clouds are one into crowds
As the sun and moon glows strew.
"And Faith shines equal arming me from Fear"
I hold faith in truth, It is who I am;
I am a woman that will eat her yams.
There is strength in nature and in its foods;
I am built strong but have my moods.

No Coward Soul Is Mine
BY EMILY BRONTE No coward soul is mine No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere I see Heaven's glories shine And Faith shines equal arming me from Fear O God within my breast Almighty ever-present Deity Life, that in me hast rest, As I Undying Life, have power in Thee Vain are the thousand creeds That move men's hearts, unutterably vain, Worthless as withered weeds Or idlest froth amid the boundless main To waken doubt in one Holding so fast by thy infinity, So surely anchored on The steadfast rock of Immortality. With wide-embracing love Thy spirit animates eternal years Pervades and broods above, Changes, sustains, dissolves, creates and rears Though earth and moon were gone And suns and universes ceased to be And Thou wert left alone Every Existence would exist in thee There is not room for Death Nor atom that his might could render void Since thou art Being and Breath And what thou art may never be destroyed. Note: I wrote the haiku included in the writing prompt. It is an observation from looking out my window. Seventeen syllables.
My writing prompt is meant to be a creative writing exercise to boost self-confidence. But if being spiritual makes you a poet in the process... Well, so be it. I advise 15-minutes of quality time in the morning time with yourself. The truth, the first time might take up to 30-minutes. The more you observe and write, the quicker the process. Even if you're done in a few minutes, take the time to reflect on nature and/or your poetic writing accomplishment. Building confidence is a process like this writing prompt. Be your creative self on what you see and write. It is your perspective to enable you as you feel more spiritually grounded and content. And note, that added gif is not you... It's a dizzy bug. LOVE is a word to tag up anything. Yes, it
IS a graffiti word; Overused, but rosy.
SPACE love. But it is the absolute for this life,
AND sharing is caring in all relationships.
TIME adds up to pricelessness even with a pet;
MEASURED moments etch memories into our minds.
BY the way, every vortex can be filled with files.
THE consensus agreed that could harbor hate. That
HEART holds plenty, but love is based on perspective.

Why do we love to eat a big breakfast?
It's the most important meal of the day
We party, drink, fight, sex and sleep at night
We awake to the rising sun rays to do work
But can't start without nourishing our bodies right
It doesn't matter what we choose to consume
Because it is still food that keeps us going strong
To some of us, eating any meal is just a routine
Some meals are light or not, Some meals are protein packed
To crave a big breakfast and eat it is comfort
Do it too often and we will find discomfort
Any diet can cater to a big breakfast
Eating carbs, butter and syrup won't make you reckless
Some people skip breakfast to enjoy weekend brunch
It's a breakfast served with drinks and coupled with lunch
Some people enjoy big breakfast at dinnertime
It is a satisfying supper anytime
Big Breakfast at sunup
Big Breakfast as a brunch
Big Breakfast for a lunch
Big Breakfast as a snack
Big breakfast for dinner
Big breakfast around the clock
Where's the big breakfast buffet hiding at?

NOTE: I was about to write about ants, and my brother called me. He told me my auntie, late-mom's sister, passed away. How to write a wacky fun poem about ants now ?
She was old, but died from covid, 04/12/2022. She loved the colors red and gold. She liked houseplants, flowers, nailpolish and simple gold jewelry. She pierced her nose on her 65th birthday. She was a very sweetheart type of woman. She'll be missed by everyone (family and friends). May my auntie forever rest in peace. Back to this note, birds are still small, but bigger than ants and have wings. They are often symbolic to freedom and/or life. Today, it's April 13th, but not Freaky Friday...
Thirteen is not an awing or cryptical number;
I stretched and got stuck in a Balancing Table Pose
As my boyfriend in Belarus text talk cussed me;
And there weren't any iPhone 13 connections found.
The 13th day of every month should all be deemed good,
Like the other three hundred fifty three days a year.
So what if I walk under a ladder and paint falls?
So what if thirteen jazzy black fat cats jive pass me?
Those things can happen on any great day of the year...
Once, I don't twirl into a 13 year old again.
And on this 13th day, I stumbled on a gray hair,
But I am grateful it was not 13 gray hairs there.

I have no true interest in video games,
And it's not because I'm an old school gal...
I have played Pac-man, Frogger and other top games.
It wasn't in my house but I had some pals,
And there was an arcade in the local strip mall.
Some years later, and guess what's in my shopping mall?
Life progresses, but some things seem to stay the same;
I can use up laundry money at the arcade,
But not having clean underwear is just so lame.
Invest in a console, but it's unlike board games,
High-maintenance, buying new games is the main aim,
And the skill set stays pretty much the same.
I rather read, write, exercise, clean or cook...
It makes me feel like I can write a storybook.
Video games are good, but I get bored with it.
I have been known to play on my phone for a bit;
So, I talk from real addiction experience.

Everyday is a treat to yourself ---
Be thankful to God and go ahead with your day;
Be confident because you are fearless and brave;
Every task prospers success for ourself;
Stay open-minded to what is toss your way,
And be understanding for what you crave.
Stay loyal and giving to those you love;
Being thoughtful gets remembered (and returned).
Being kind isn't anything new wave;
Be nice to oneself, peers and stand above;
Good ways.

I remembered a video from yesterday;
a nicely seasoned steak
with a serving spoon of fresh baked carrot souffle
and potato with sour cream and chives.
But if I follow the doctor's order,
it'd be swordfish in lemon sauce;
with a side of sauteed onion & squash,
plus, a glass of red wine.
Well, I went to the grocery store,
and picked up a frozen eggplant parmigana.
I could easily microwave that in minutes
and serve it up with garlic almond toast.
Fast food drive-thru would be the quickest way;
a burger meal, footlong sub, tacos or hot dogs.
Maybe, it isn't the healthiest lifestyle,
but I'm not using it as everyday snackfood.
Talking about food turns me into a Vegan
because I can eat like a garbage disposal
and stay skinny having vegetable platters,
pesto pasta primavera, buddah's delight
or scrumptious Indian food.

Note: I couldn't anthropomorphizes a food in a poem. I did a big breakfast poem already as a NaPoWriMo 2022 submission. So, I wrote a Lunatika instead.
Lunatika is a poetry form that I came up with some years back. I refer to it as an American Tanka. The syllable count is 3-5-3-5-5. The 3-lines was an initial idea, but I finally decided on going tanka style at 3/5/3/5/5. I found it to be like "butter" for short poetic storytelling. LUNATIKA EXAMPLE: The tadpole became a green frog swatting flies and jumping around the lily pad pond. The title (aka headline) is used as a separate entity from the poem even if it is used to introduce the poem. Note: I love Cleo. She is a longtime friend from FanStory and FanArtReview. I always find new art and photography from her. Good inspiration for me. This poem is based completely on the picture. However, I dedicate this 3 Perspective Lunatika Poem. My thank you especially to her :) |

The Tea Trade is good at reeling in their profits;
Tea is considered a commodity.
This is a drink that holds health benefits;
An assortment of tea is not an oddity.
People around the world consume their tea;
The U.S. dates tea back to the colonial times.
Tea is a good drink, Everybody can agree;
You can drink it without milk, but do squeeze in lime.
You can drink black, green, yellow, red & white tea leaves;
The black, green, blends and fusions are mainstream here.
Milk, citrus and sweeteners balance out the flavor;
There is no hops in here, don't mistake tea for beer.
Tea is acceptable, And even romantic,
But snobby talk is just playful tea semantics.

*Note: April 21 was National Tea Day. I waited to write this poem, because tea is a beverage that can be enjoyed every day, (versus once a year). *Note: A few years back, I attended a Tea Expo and took classes for a certificate. Now, I am a Tea Sommelier. *Note: Yesterday, (for national tea day) I bought a new tea online: Harney & Sons, Hot Cinnamon Spice, Black Tea with Orange & Sweet Clove. So many tea choices... It was like an all day event for me. And now, I must wait for delivery. *Note: I was raised to drink tea at breakfast. My parents drank coffee and herbal tea(s). Now, I drink both too, (any flavor or style even iced). *Note: Writing this poem, I drank a cup of cucumber mint with lemon honey, but wished to enjoy a cup of traditional Lipton. It has a classic and nostalgic taste that seems to always be comforting. *NOTE: The majority of tea leaves are harvested in India, Japan and China. *NOTE: Matcha is grown in Asia and South America. It is not considered a tea leaf in the Tea Industry. Some view it as a drug because of it's antioxidant potency. REFERENCES: 1. They did you wrong in Utah;
God made crater marks;
Earth destroyed by an asteroid.
Which ozone layer hurts the most?
Wrong,wrong-wrong, wrong... WRONG
It's like mankind slowed God down.
Truthfully...
You are everything to me.
I like you in the Springtime;
A season of renewal.
I love you in the Summer;
All good long days, Fun short nights.
But things do change in the Fall;
Dark short days, Sweaters.
And by Winter, it gets cold;
To have warm romantic nights.
You're special year round
You're my favorite planet
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EARTH

The night sky shines in a neon sign
and it sits above the sofa,
which is just fine.
The pedestal fan blows wavelike winds
and the imagination goes wild...
No need to tune-in on the radio
or television amplifications;
Just lay back and let the mind go
as your hair enjoys waving
and romantic escapism finds you.
You surrender to a selfish utopia
with relaxation and tender thoughts;
Be free with peace of mind,
and fall asleep into a goodnight.

reverie (defined) - an abstracted state of absorption
Note: Moon & Stars Neon Sign, Photograph found on Etsy.com, RubyGifts29 Note: I tried to write a poem following the napowrimo.net day 23 writing prompt, but it was written rather bohemian. So here's an attempted short poem written in free verse with alliteration and rhymes. Today, I'm not going to fuss. I didn't follow the given national poetry writing month april 2022 writing prompt. I kept it simple by coupling a tanka with haiku just to submit something for Day 24.

National Poetry Writing Month, April 2022, Day 25 - I didn't follow the writing prompt, but still have a submission.
I found the Welsh Poppies picture on FanArtReview by TDtraditionalart to be inspirational to writing this poem. I haven't heard anything about Welch Poppies before this picture. Poppies are a popular wildflower around Southern California. I'm running with the title, The Flower Poppies, instead... ;) |

There sat a wacky woman at the bar...
She watched the cherries in a jar,
"Give me a drink with that.".
"I don't make chit chat,"
"But how did you get that big scar?".

Note: Learning about similies and writing one made me upset. I thought I'd try writing a limerick, again. So much for NaPoWriMo April 2022 daily writing prompts.

My Fair Lady, if you like to watch old movies;
Let me guess, you're the biggest Titanic groupie.
I rather we start this date with Dirty Dancing;
I'd run a romance marathon with Only You.
Grease is a classic film, we would have to watch that,
But Pure Country might be where it's really at.
We could make it a special day with Moulin Rouge,
Or be popcorn perverts viewing The Graduate.
The Wedding Planner could mess us up with a talk;
I don't believe you win with Roman Holiday,
However, it is better than Runaway Bride;
Or we can watch that war movie, Casablanca.
What's better than Notting Hill or Love Actually?
Serendipity, an aspect of modern love!

The latest in sonnets is a duplex, which is composed of 7 couplet stanzas. I couldn't find a word search list that I loved, but I'm all for entertainment.

Having flowers around sure does brighten the place;
The grocery store bouquets adds a little grace,
And flowers change to match the seasonal harvests.
Some people pick flowers they grew in their gardens;

5-lines coupled with a haiku (5-7-5).
Note: I didn't want to write a concrete poem. So, I wrote a poem for the 28th day of National Poetry Writing Month. I haven't seen lillies in its own floral bouquet yet for the season... But Easter is over. I actually bought a Easter bouquet with a stem or two of everything, but it died. So, I dumped it in the trash. Who's buyiing daffodils and tulips now... Well, I found this gorgeous art piece on FanArtReview. It was inspiring to me. Commonsense isn't something that I have,
But I do try to be wise,
Because I have to take care of myself;
The years go by, and I am still alone.
I wish real rules would exist for love...
It would make relationships easier.
Psychology is there but that's subjective,
And modern hearts hold emojis for true;
This creative spin lacks the real you.
Technology has grown impersonal...
We are all leaders with a trail of followers;
Stalkers without a smile.

Attention.
When over the flowery, sharp pasture's
edge, unseen, the salt ocean...
I sit burning cigarettes;
Lifts its form---chicory and daisies
tied, released, seem hardly flowers alone.
Burning my brain,
but color and the movement---or the shape
Perhaps---of restlessness, whereas
veils of dumb air
unwind the bandages.
The sea is circled and sways,
Peacefully upon its plantlike stem;
Half-parted.

Notes: The final day of National Poetry Writing Month and I followed the writing prompt. Write a Cento. Essentially, a Cento is the weaving of 2 poems into one.
Note: I worked with the following poems: "Flowers by the Sea" written by William Carlos Williams (1883 to 1963) and weaved in verses from "Attention" by Adrienne Rich (1929-2012). I sit burning cigarettes, burning my brain. A micro-Tibet, deadly, frivolous, complete, blinds the four panes. Veils of dumb air unwind like bandages from my lips half-parted, steady as the mouths of antique statues. |
