I imagined just how my life would go:
what it was I would do and who I would know,
but no matter how much of it I tried to plan
it was if I built my future upon the sand.
Even though it hasn't turned out as I depicted
I wouldn't dream of going back to rewrite it,
for I've found a plausible plot despite it.
Having recomposed my primary goal
I've discovered I enjoy my new role;
even though it is not perfectly scripted.
Author Notes | I wrote this sometime back but it still holds true today. |

she did not have wings
yet my grandmother was still
an angel to me
Author Notes | This is dedicated to my grandmother, Edith Gordon, who passed into the first death in 1987. Appreciation goes out to David Ruhl for use of this beautiful piece of artwork. |

As we danced I was touched by an angel,
angel soft was our very first kiss,
kiss after saying our wedding vows,
vows which led us to lying here in bliss.
Author Notes | This piece was actually taken from notes for four stanzas of a poem or four verses of a song poem. |

Tonight there was a shooting star;
though I saw it but from afar.
Yet when I went to seek it out,
I could not even trace its route.
There was no trail against the night
that would reveal its path of flight.
It was just as if I was blind;
searching, but unable to find.
The other stars, fixed fires, burned on:
shining unto the light of dawn.
Friends can be just like shooting stars,
affecting lives both near and far.
Truly wonderful in presence,
awakening a sleeping sense,
that to an adventure might lead,
fulfilling within you a need.
Some of these stars appear each night;
producing their own kind of light,
always with us, no matter where,
displaying an undying care.

The idea for this poem was taken from a blessings book. Each line was done in syllables of eight. Also, thank you to cleo85 for the use of her artwork.

Though my memory does not recall
certain events when I was small
there are times pieces show through
in what I say and do -
some subconscious thought
forwardly brought
in my life
bidding
strife.
Author Notes | This came to me today as talk came up about one's past and trauma that may have occurred in it. Also appreciation goes out to jgrace for use of the artwork "Memories." |

They can push apart,
or bring people together;
that's what words can do.
Author Notes |
Words are truly very powerful. We each must be careful in what we say and write. Thank you cleo85 for use of the picture!

Head poked barely above the grass:
if you weren't looking, you'd go right past,
because her coloring blended in with the weeds,
she was a hard one to spot, indeed.
Found at a curve alongside of a road,
just a short distance from my parents' abode.
As she edged ever closer to me,
I could make out quite definitely
that her eyes were of the brightest yellow,
and she had a spirit that was most mellow.
A pup born of the wolf kind;
to me, she was a wondrous find.
She was six months of age, I'd approximate;
discovered along with a litter mate.
She'd climb into feed buckets for her share,
though she was the more reclusive of the pair.
She would, however, talk to you,
and proceed to tell a thing, or two.
Sadly, she's left the land of the living.
It was on the day after Thanksgiving.
That year, t'was the twenty-sixth of November.
This date, I shall long remember.
I do have in this, one consolation,
but without an ounce of elation;
for just as to me, she so came:
Wind is now as free as her name.
Author Notes | My brother was with me that day, and we decided which ever one of the pups came to each of us, that one would be ours. His, he called Whisper. |

She was a Canadian Grey. I called her Tempest because she was definitely a windstorm.Tempest was purchased when she was three and one-half weeks old.
After Tempest graduated to a saucer of milk(as wolf pups are traditionally bottle fed to take the wildness out of them)she would rock back on her haunches when she'd had her fill.
Later, when Tempest got big enough, she would stand up on her hind legs and snatch items from off the stove. Tupperware containers were her favorite. These she would put in her special den behind a living room recliner.
Sometime later, while Tempest was raising her first litter, my Shar Pei, Wrinkles, also whelped her first. However, unlike Tempest, Wrinkles didn't know what they were, or what to do with them.
By now, Tempest's pups were nearly at the weaning stage. Taking a gamble, I put Wrinkles' pups in with Tempest. She immediately set to work removing them from their birth sacs. Afterwards she let them nurse. Tempest went on to become the progenitor of many litters.
The day before she died, as Tempest laid on top of her shelter, she looked out beyond the gate fence. Tempest then turned her head and looked at me, as if to say good-bye .
Author Notes | Though I've had many others that I've loved, she is one that stands out in my mind. The above is not a photo of her as she was darker in coloring and lacked the tannish mixture, and I only have pictures of her as a pup. These right now are in storage where I can't immediately get to them. Thanks to Envision for the use of their artwork. |

more than just a friend
you left a hole in my heart
the day you passed from this earth
the good times we shared
shall never be forgotten
though now as if only dreams
Author Notes | Regrettably I don't have a picture of Nugget so I had to borrow the use of this one. Thank you so much Katya Clements. |

gentle in your ways
didn't know it was good-bye
the night that you left
Author Notes | Thanks to avmurray for the beautiful photograph. Looks a lot like my boy. Lonewolf turned out to be the last of my wolves. He was so named as he was the only survivor of his litter and as it turned out his pack. |

Their time for racing is no more.
No longer on winged hooves do they soar.
It matters not who's first or last:
their names the crowds no longer roar.
This is now a thing of the past;
for that die's already been caste.
Never again put to the test
of proving whether they are fast.
Some go to their reward of rest;
some become pets where they'll do best,
while others shall come to abide
in a different world of conquest.
Some now graze with a foal by their side
or look on their offspring with pride
or contemplating their next stride
as over hurdles they do glide.
Author Notes | Thanks go out to Anne for the use of her beautiful artwork. |

My Lady Valentine,
you are so very fine.
The way you move is so divine;
it's like intoxicating wine,
for my heart it does pine,
waiting for you to shine,
crossing that finish line.
Author Notes | Appreciation goes out to eileen0204 for use of the artwork. I wrote this little poem on behalf of a thoroughbred filly in whom I have a financial interest. She is slated to make her racing debut on 08/16/2020. |

Another page has turned in my life,
life that I once had all planned out,
out to fulfill all my hopes and dreams,
dreams encompassing what life is all about.
Author Notes | Major events as well as years represent to me a page in life's book. Also another shout out to Cleo85 for another great work of art. |
