I can see a wisdom in you that's beyond your years.
I can see the laughter despite all of the tears;
while I see a longing for a better tomorrow,
and the joy which is sustained through all the sorrow.
I see a determination that doesn't bend;
for I can see that which upon your spirit depends.
I can see though life may try to weigh you down,
you can still create a a smile out of a frown.
I can see the ever shining light of hope;
declaring how through hard times you can cope.
I can see the passion which so deeply burns.
I can see everything for which you so greatly yearn.
I can see in your chest beats a heart that's true.
I can see the attributes that make you, you.
I can see into the very depths of your soul;
revealing all those things which make you whole.
I can see this world as it ought to be.
Mostly I can see a picture of you and me;
as I see a love that can't be disguised
when I look into the recesses of your eyes.

Every breath, every beat of my heart
whispers my feelings for you.
You make me, you sustain me.
My life, my love, is yours.
Thoughts of you envelope me, consume me.
You give existence to my soul.
Only with you am I complete.
You are my every breath.

You tell me that you do love me
and that's how it'll forever be.
So that I may know your words are true
I'll make only one request of you,
when I take that special walk down the aisle
there's one thing that will make me smile;
in a year forth following our wedding day,
that you'll in a made up bouquet:
Grant to me roses, one for every year.
Grant to me roses, she finishes with a tear.
You've told me that you do love me.
You've said that's how it shall always be.
To know that your words will always be true
I have a request to make of you.
With each passing year of our wedded bliss,
again all I ask for is just this;
that each anniversary forever more,
of you, this I do most implore:
Grant to me roses, one for every year.
Grant to me roses, she finishes with a tear.
To know for sure that you love me,
and that's how it'll evermore be;
so I'll be sure your words remain true,
I've one last request to make of you.
When that time comes which causes us to part,
I have but one desire in my heart.
As I lay there in that cold, dark dreamless sleep,
this vow I ask for you to keep:
Grant to me roses, one for every year.
Grant to me roses, she finishes with a tear.
Henceforth to show my love is real,
and this is the way I'll always feel,
and so that you'll know my word's still true;
till I'm lying there right next to you,
my pledge I'll give to you and never wave.
Each time I plant flowers on your grave;
for no matter just how long you shall be gone,
your words to me will echo on:
Grant to me roses, one for every year.
Grant to me roses, he finishes with a tear.

Lips,
softer than velvet
and smoother than silk,
caressed mine the first time that we kissed.

As long as forever remains,
Love that I promised will not change.
Whims, though direction may alter,
All feelings for you shan't falter.
Yours faithfully I shall stay:
So it shall endure always.

Not in Colorado like John Denver's song
but in an embrace ever so strong.
In eyes that openly smile into mine
I get a glimpse of heaven divine
while lips that come together in a kiss
bring about an ecstasy of pure bliss.
In a heart full of unending love,
as though sent down from an angel above
and the light of promises ever true
I've found my Rocky Mountain high in you.
Author Notes | I wrote this some time back and after some minor changes I decided to put it forth. |

The fabled tale of Camelot
tells of the love twixt Gwenivere and Lancelot.
After the two, having given into sin
caused the kingdom to crumble to dust;
for their was lost between both Arthur and Gwen
their shared bond of mutual trust,
as even Merlin's magic could not save
that which had been so wantonly betrayed.
The sword Excalibur broken apart:
just like what happened to each of their hearts;
for their chains of love just weren't all that strong.
Tis true together they never belonged.
Their skies became full of rainy days.
Clouds put their world in a darkened haze.
The royal decree to allow no tears
came to fall upon deafened ears.
Winter turned into one of discontent;
Spring, unnoticed, came and went.
In the season of their fall
their life became a Summer squall,
when the lovers, they were caught.
That is how it was or perhaps seen
in that legendary place once serene.
Learning from the lessons taught:
all upon them that was wrought,
let nothing e'er be forgot...
if ever was Camelot.
This time the story will not end
with the disenchantment between Arthur and Gwen;
for what started out as a fairytale
will by every means remain the same.
It shan't by Morgan's magic be dispelled.
No Lancelot will be to blame.
Our kingdom will not crumble into dust,
as neither of us shall succumb to lust.
The sword Excalibur returned to the lake;
for we shall not commit the same mistake,
cause the chains of our love are just too strong.
Tis together we shall always belong.
There will never be a cloudy day.
Rain shall positively keep away.
Our simple decree will allow no tears,
thus no need for worries or fears.
Winter is to be a thing of the past.
Spring year 'round will forever last.
As for the season of fall:
it shan't be considered at all.
The summers existing not.
That is shall ever be seen
in our legendary place, most serene.
Learning from the lessons taught:
all upon them that was wrought,
nothing will e'er be forgot...
if ever was Camelot.

It's still hard to believe
that I have found one
as beautiful as you:
a virtual dream come true;
of an equal there is none.
So won't you be my Eve?
Other girls, I've had 'em,
but they can't compare
to the one that I see
standing right here before me.
So won't you make us a pair?
I could be your Adam.

Their vows newly spoken
the recently joined man and wife;
once having given the customary tokens
come together meeting heart to heart
and in the touching of lip to lip
as from the loving cup they do sip:
having promised from this day on never to part,
thus blending into one their lives
in this moment of wedded bliss
sealing forever with a kiss.
Their goodbyes once spoken
the long coupled man and wife;
their vows never having once been broken
come together meeting heart to heart
and in the touching of lip to lip:
drinking from each others eyes they do sip,
knowing that the time had now come for them to part,
as he prepared to leave this life
they shared one last moment of bliss
sealing forever with a kiss.
Their love not now spoken;
this pair, who'd once been man and wife;
whose separation remains no longer broken
come together meeting heart to heart
and in the touching of lip to lip
in granite these images are chipped,
from this time forward never more to be apart;
to be united in a new life:
waiting for that eternal bliss
sealing forever with a kiss.
Author Notes | I wrote this imaging that's how it was between my grandmother and grandfather. |

To outright borrow from the age old cliche
when he did perchance to come my way;
it was true love at the very first sight:
putting me head over heels in purest delight.
Then making our vows and exchanging our rings
I'm found gaily dancing on eagles' wings.
Though it's been a whole since our honeymoon
we still manage to remain in tune;
even when the times have been a bit tough:
as on more than one occasion I've had enough.
Then we kiss and I hear the angels sing
I'm found gaily dancing on eagles' wings.
With the passing of each day I realize
that the binds which together us tie
have made our union so much more the stronger
as our love only grows increasingly fonder;
for while the closer to each other this brings
I'm found gaily dancing on eagles' wings.
Author Notes | Though admitting it isn't perfect the teller focuses on the good times having chosen to love. |

Our date was speedily coming to an end;
In my thoughts I considered you only a friend,
And then you pressed your lips to mine:
That's when my heart with yours became entwined.
As time went on that proved to be true;
For the love which started as a spark steadily grew:
Ring in hand you got down on bended knee
And popped the question will you marry me?
In answer to that request here I do stand
Awaiting the moment I'll press my lips to the man's
with whom I will forever share my life
As his ever loving woman and wife.
The years which have passed by so very swiftly
Have seen us expanding into a real family.
When our daughter is old enough to date
I will to her my story relate.
When she in turn has a daughter of her own
And that said daughter into a teenager has grown
Let her know just how it all came about;
Leave her no room to harbor any doubt.

more than emotion
love's a lifelong commitment
between two people
Author Notes | To me, love is a process, lust, often taken as love, is based only on an emotion, and emotions can change. Also a thanks goes out to Brucelorio for the use of the artwork. |
