Chapter 1
Looking for Camelot

By fm wright

Armed with a strong desire, the young knight rode on;
having set out on his quest at the break of dawn.
His noble steed did eat up the ground at a trot,
while Sir Paladin kept looking for Camelot.

As over a vast domain he traveled this day,
Sir Paladin believed others had come this way.
The young ridere was just one of many who sought,
for not he alone, was looking for Camelot.

His quest, it was far from being an easy one;
in order to live out his dream, it must be done.
As he went on his way many battles were fought,
while Sir Paladin went looking for Camelot.

When finally he came to the end of the trail,
he searched and he searched, though it was to no avail.
Sir Paladin solemnly gazed at the spot,
where he had been looking for to see Camelot.

Author Notes Appreciate the use of Sange's work entitled "Cindy's Christmas Castle" to represent the fabled castle of Camelot.

Chapter 2
Seamaids

By fm wright

Beautiful denizens of the sea;
born of fish and humanity.
Sometimes sailors heard their songs
as they voyaged along.
A few even might
of one caught sight,
then so tell
wond'rous
tales.

Author Notes Appreciation goes out to cleo85 for use of her artwork entitled "Nerites."

Chapter 3
Fire Withheld

By fm wright

The knight traveled on over the ice,
thinking that a warm shelter would be nice.
Sometime following he came to a cave,
wondering if that might be his grave.

With little choice presented to him,
he ventured through the opening grim,
figuring it would be cold, but was not;
in fact it leaned towards being cozy hot.

Not far in, breath at his nape he did feel,
which sent up his spine a terrible chill.
When he looked around he did so see,
a beast which loomed predominately.

But as fire from the dragon did fail,
this knight would survive to tell his tale;
for of gentle heart this creature was found,
and for the two friendship was likely bound.

Author Notes A big thanks goes out to jesuel for use of the artwork.

Chapter 4
A Knight's Errand

By fm wright

A knight errant travels on his way,
way leading towards a dragon to slay;
slay he would with every bit of his skill,
skill written of through the ink and quill.

Quill, which could record his every deed,
deed depicting a knight on his steed;
steed carrying him into the battle,
battle to cause the ground to rattle,

rattle with the sound of victory,
victory mandating true glory;
glory, as the knight wins his princess fair,
fair of face with long golden hair.

Author Notes Thanks goes out to memephotos for use of this splendid picture! As you can see this piece was merely written in fun, as the rhyming lines are off of what they would be in a true loop poem.

Chapter 5
Where Mermaids Dwell

By fm wright

Come to the place under the sea
where mermaids are known to dwell;
far beneath the froth caused by the waves swell.
Here they frolic with absolute glee.

With a thrusting of their tails they flee
swiftly through the domain of the whale.
Come to the place under the sea
where mermaids are known to dwell.

Guided by the melody
of their songs hypnotic spell,
as in their wake you do trail
down to where Neptune one might see.
Come to the place under the sea.

Author Notes Appreciation to Seshadri_sreenivasan for the use of this extraordinary piece of artwork!

Chapter 6

Chapter 7
I Still Believe in Unicorns

By fm wright

In a time when the world was yet pristine
maidens questing the symbol of virginity
sought to find them in forests of verdant green
where they'd take refuge under the boughs of trees.

With a horn water was made pure for all;
upon this every creature could surely depend.
Everything was well till came the hunters' call.
Fleeing on split hooves would race against the wind.

In turn brought to bay by a pack of hounds;
their masters would then release arrows through the air.
The twang of bowstrings distinct among the sounds
as death's grip grabs hold on both stallion and mare.

Though it's been some time since I fit the role
and no bona fide proof that any have been seen
I have a feeling down deep inside my soul:
one I have not had since I was a teen.

Yes, their existence I still yet proclaim:
my hope renewed like the returning light of morn;
certain that somewhere some must somehow remain
for truly I still believe in unicorns

Author Notes a fantasy based poem that reflects the optimistic side of my personality

Chapter 8
Fays

By fm wright

fairy folk flitting

about on gossamer wings

engaging magic

Author Notes A big thanks goes out to cleo85! Appreciate the use of the artwork "Garden Fairies-For Addison!"

Chapter 9
Within a Unicorn's Garden

By fm wright

Within a unicorn's garden bees don't know how to sting,
birds fill the air with the songs they sing,
the sun shines down in aureate beams,
fountains flow forth from silvery streams,
butterflies float upon fanciful wing,

flowers, their fragrance, year 'round do bring;
as the only season here, is Spring.
Existance is as peaceful as it seems
within a unicorn's garden.

While the bells of fairies softly ring,
magic upon everything does cling.
Nighttime whispers of sweet dreams
where moonlight on the water gleams
like pearls on a silken string,
within a unicorn's garden.

Author Notes Appreciation goes out to avmurray for use of "Tropical Garden."

Chapter 10
A Dragon's Tale

By fm wright

Over and over I've heard it to be said,
from those who profess to be in the know,
that a dragon is a creature to be dread,
but take it from this dragon it isn't so.
Rather look to the fearsome knight instead;
for with his sword he brings to my kind woe.
As one by one of my kindred I'm bereft,
I'm wondering if I'm the only one left.

Author Notes A big thank you goes out to willockett for the use of the artwork!

Chapter 11
Sirens' Song

By fm wright

Sirens
lure sailors to maddening end
with song

Author Notes The title for this piece has been in my notes for awhile. I've been trying to figure out what type of poem to turn it into. I'm hoping this is the one.

Chapter 12
Tears of a Mermaid

By fm wright

Her love for a sailor was strong:
being with him is for what she did long.
Although he was a man of the sea
their relationship could not ever be.

Sitting atop a craggy rock,
she'd watch every ship that pulled into dock;
hoping for even a glimpse of him,
but opportunities like that were slim.

Still, on the lookout she did keep:
twas many a time she went without sleep,
waiting for even the slightest chance,
for just a single moment of romance.

Then it happened one summer's night,
the sky, it broke red; a sailor's delight.
As she was swimming up to the shore
came that which she had so been wishing for.

While he fondled her fish-like tail
he knew that on the next tide he'd set sail.
That fateful morning, the sky broke red:
an ominous sign all sea men do dread.

His ship upon the waves was tossed.
Report went back that those aboard were lossed.
As through the wreckage, her way, she winds,
the lifeless form of her beloved finds.

His body at rest in the deep,
while for him her heart does mournfully weep,
the mermaid, in pain she can't disguise:
her she'd tears causing the waters to rise.

Chapter 13
A Mermaid's Kiss

By fm wright

A young lad set out to sea,
his life's journey just started,
looking forward with glee
from the time he first departed.

He traveled east to west,
from sunrise to sunset.
Mounted in the crow's nest;
for any sighting he'd get.

His eyes would skim the waters
while scanning for just a trace,
focused as he sought her
with fish tail and human face.

This went on year after year.
Each day he thought that it might,
and this brought him some cheer,
be the one his mermaid sight.

A seaman advanced in age,
he never - the - less sailed on.
One day after a storm did rage;
soon after the ship was gone.

Now adrift upon the tide,
clinging to a piece of the bow,
into darkness he slides
wondering what happens now.

Feeling lips pressed on his own
he awakens upon sand;
knowing he's not alone
on what he deems an island.

Searching around his eyes see,
as in the sea did fade,
or at least seemed to be,
the backside of a mermaid.

Looking out over the ocean,
not knowing what now to do;
for he had no notion
'til a ship came into view.

Since rescue from that isle,
though many think him amiss,
he cannot help but smile
when recalling mermaid's kiss.

Chapter 14
Twixt Dragons and Kings

By fm wright

Of the days of yore,
which balladeers sing,
come the many feats
twixt dragons and kings.

Though t'was gallant knights,
their swords they would sling,
battles were always
twixt dragons and kings.

Though sorcerers might
magical spells fling,
the true power was
twixt dragons and kings.

Though fair maidens could
pull at their heart strings,
affairs were always
twixt dragons and kings.

Though to nests of gold
those lizards might cling,
wealth was divided
twixt dragons and kings.

Though they were mighty
when upon the wing,
made no difference
twixt dragons and kings.

When their time was through,
the end it did bring
a confrontation
twixt dragons and kings.

Author Notes Sometimes a line pops into my head and I just run with it, so to speak. That's what happened in this case.
