Chapter 18
winds from the south

By Gypsy Blue Rose

winds from the south bring yellow
Sahara desert sand skies

Author Notes My participation for the multy-author renga-book. In the hot summer days in Mallorca, it happens sometimes. With the southern winds Sahara sands are carried all the way over to cover the Mallorcan sky, coloring it a fantastic brownish-yellow. Only everybody fears that it might also rain then, because if that happens, everything will be covered in a layer of thin, dirty dark yellow sand. Cars, swimming pools, laundry forgotten and still hanging outside, streets, plants, everything. Beautiful in the sky, but it should not come down!

Chapter 32
Contemplation

By Gypsy Blue Rose

Soft! In sunset's silence sound
whispers of consolation

Author Notes Thanks to MoonWillow for artwork: Blue Mountain Sunset

In my original version, the first line read: In the silence you may hear

Rama Devi suggested that I not squander a precious syllable on THE (what was I thinking!) and suggested DEEP, I polled the reviewers; Judiverse offered NIGHT. Though tempted, for such a short poem, I felt I should use my own words. I reworked the line in keeping with the assonance in "S" and mined my cobwebbed mind for remnants of requisite high school Shakespeare; one archaic sense of SOFT! means HUSH! or SSSSH!
