The light that dims
in lovers eyes
where once the ardent
flame did glow
Is naught that love
has left the heart
but mellowed sweet
to comfort soul
It once shined bright
with youth's delight
it beamed with smile
to fuel the night
lover's embrace
could not be quelled
nor spirits dampen
this magical spell
The light that dims
in lovers eyes
where once the ardent
flame did glow
now toils of years
taps energies store
yet inner joy
reigns ever more
Be saddened not
embrace thy age
even roses vibrant
color fades
The light that dims
perpetually will shine
Pressed between
Love's pages of time

Brrrrrrrrrrr, I've really outdone myself
this time
Can't believe I went so
overboard
I decided to snow for a couple of hours
then napped
Forgot to set my timer to
automatically turn me off
So here we are six hours into
this storm
And I was not even predicted
messed up weather man again
When I get below zero I
am forgetful
I have been around since time began
And there are times I get tired too
You know
It's not like I don't have a lot
to do
Reminding the wind to blow
my drifts
Reminding the sun to give me
a break
I love being Winter, however
Spring and I
Have discussed changing places
for a while
I like that idea, but we haven't
figured out
How I could begin the transition
without a double shift
Maybe I could talk to my Union boss
Oh Godddddddddd
can I have an appointment soon
Wait, wait, the moon has just
turned my new snow into diamonds
Forget it God, I will stay
just who I am...
after all, you made me
Winter

With river banks on either side
Destiny's cradle embarks on life's ride
Through spring fed rills and meadows fair
travels child to adulthood maturing there
Vast canyons deep and stone walls rise
Gives lofty caution to the wise
shore up resolve and strength renew
Rough, rapid falls ahead of you
River rushes, twist and turn
Turbulence swells and troubles churn
The ups and downs of life will end
In calm repose, 'round river's bend
Success resplendent pride to be
Humble thanks we owe to Thee
as river flows down to the sea
It's comforting banks embraces me
In spirits cheer and energy
there's One who cares for you and me
He calms the storm and brights the night
An obedient soul, His heart's delight
When finally the sea's in view
And death is closing in on you
Have no fear, you rode the tide
And in His loving care abide
For the river's bank on either side
of sparkling waters deep and wide
Portray a life-scene at its best
Oh, faithful one, you've earned your rest
Author Notes | I took this of the Meremec River in Missouri, it's a great one to float. Serene but with just enough rough water to make it challenging. We are very blessed if our life is like the river moving Destiny's cradle through the rushing waters of life. |
By Carolyn 'Deaton' Stephens
Within the heart of man there lies the ability to love
Not always in an erotic sense, Where passion burns and desires run wild
waiting to be tamed by gentle caress and kisses without abandon
But in a myriad of emotions which can bring one's soul to its knees
The power of nature at its best, a raging storm of happiness
A baby's small hand grasping the finger of a new mother
An overwhelming sense of pride in the son's first letter from boot camp
Graduation tears, band concerts, loss of the first tooth and wanting to keep that perfect little pearl forever
It's watching your child assist an elderly person cross the street, and knowing in your heart that he or she is made up of more than pink hair, tattoos and a strange fashion statement
The heart of love is never ending but goes on and on
From one generation to another, world without end
A growing valentine, an occupation of the soul that no one can explain
Beyond description, beyond measurement or scope of time
A love that brings hope springing eternal as if a bulb bursting forth
in vibrant resurrection after the frigid grip of Winter's bonds
The heart of love is that center of meaning, that warmth and stick-to-a-tive-ness that makes a marriage last for a lifetime
that binds friends together spanning oceans, mountains, and even continents with an inexplicable joy and care for the successes and well being of another
It's that kind of love that keeps the world going, seeking greater good,
more than just self gratification...
The heart of love is the heart that dares to be spiritual, dares to give credence to a God that is love, that taught us how to love and obey, that taught us forgiveness, and rewards us for those attributes
It's those all-encompassing virtues and attitudes which turns the heart of love into the true and everlasting soul
The real Valentine

"Gist in the Bliss - Part 1"
Above the Elysian fields and cobalt skies
Lies a sweet summer land of bliss
Awaiting for all who dare to live
In the substance of things hoped for
An evidential stream of becoming
What the Almighty intends
Come leave your burdens
Journey with us to this land
A forever dwelling place, called Paradise
The gist in the bliss
Is when we have found peace
Life unfolds in pieces and bits
With complaints on long list
Take flight with the graceful geese
This is a heaven on Earth
Where we can earn life's worth
The secret of nature's gist
To make life into a brilliant glitz

Quietly by the stream he sat with random thought
Absorbing sounds profound, and oh so clear
Water's symphony plays on rocks and rills
At peace within himself and all the world
With pen in hand he touches pad with care
Warm words of beauty flow straight from his heart
He waits not on a muse but plunges in
With memories long thought to be obscure
Reflections of his life now brought to view
His pen transcribes the joy of inner man
Humility and grace were all he sought
Riches and fame were naught of great appeal
His mirrored soul proclaimed a life of love
For all who dwelt with him in modest home
A wife and child confirm his diligence
Word's transformation affirmed in poet's bliss
Quietly by the stream he sat with random thought
Absorbing sounds profound, and oh so clear

In rumpled disarray the blanket lies
The corner of the street his stage of choice
He beats his bongo with a rhythmic hand
His tattered clothes aren't noticed for the cup
That sits to hold the cheering strangers' coins
He draws them in, wide eyes of darkest brown
Tangled auburn curls frame sweet toddler's face
At times he startles all with fingers swift
The bongo tells the story loud and clear
Of trafficking a child who's forced to beg
Rapid the tempo resounds in night's cool breeze
His dirty nails are groomed by teeth so small
And face is streaked and smeared with child like care
No scented bath with toys to ease his woe
But from afar comes running one who knows
The sound of bongos left beneath a tree
Where once was played to thrill the ones who heard
Parents and children shared a love so dear
With hungry arms she gently holds her son
Heart chilled when he was gone from her embrace
None could deny that they were of one blood
The bongo call had reached her heart and soul
Her little lost boy..... found.... was taken home.
Bongo's beat or coins tinkling in a cup
May not be music made by street-side band

Come walk this Way
Through fields of corn and wheat
Smile and greet
Each one you meet
And call them friend
Call them friend for they are Mine
A stranger is 'a frame of mind'
Similarities are many
Differences are few
Come walk this Way
Learn of Me, your zeal renew
Learn of Me, and zeal renew
Love each other, as I have loved you
Through fields of corn and wheat
As in Nations far and wide
And in our own where doubts abide
Smile and greet, each one you meet
And call them friend
Similarities are many
Differences are few
Learn to love, as I have loved you
Erase the doubts, subdue the fear
Your zeal renew for I am near
Come walk this Way
And follow Me
Be the best that you can be
Learn of Me and zeal renew
Similarities are many, differences are few
Follow me my friend, there's much to do
Learn of Me, I'm your friend too
For don't you know? It was I who created each of you.
Similarities are many
Differences are few

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I sit at my desk with my pen in my hand
wondering what I can write today
do I have a plan
Shall I write about moonlight and sunshine
Jesus and His love
How about whirly gigs and snow cones
Or my God up above
Maybe sailboats and sand dunes
or mountaintops so high
Or perhaps a place prepared for me
in that 'sweet by and by'
Will it be of dandelions and buttercups
baby smiles or annoying 'hiccups'
Children and aged all come into play
as I sit here and ponder, what will I write today
Abuse and addiction or severe human plight
Terror, world wars,
government shut downs
giving up without a fight
Or will I write of love for self
and conceitedly think of only me
or will I share, will I care
and compassionate strive to be
What will my pen proclaim today
as to the tablet it's pressed down
whatever it be, reflections of me
most assuredly will be found
So bless my writing efforts Lord
and guide my pen, I pray
To do my best, and leave the rest
to be composed another day

Come Morning
The night and the blackness of it
has finally passed into the beyond
into that mysterious place
called the other side of the world
where twilight, moon and stars dwell
Yet in its place
a fabulous transformation occurs
morning breaks with a glorious
burst of color on the horizon
and the soft wispy fog dissipates
like sleepy-time sweetness from
the eyes of an awakening child
each morning is new
fresh, invigorating like the very first
that ever emerged to grace the earth
with its beauty, its vibrancy
grand and bold, a testimony to life
a new beginning, a new day
energize in the rapture of the mornings light
bathe in the abundant opportunities
that await you
confirmed anew for you and you alone
stretch your arms, elevate your spirit
embrace yourself and who you are
prepare yourself well, night is over
today, this new day, is your day to shine
Come Morning

Have you ever gone outside and stood perfectly still
Allowed the power of the night to overtake you
As the twilight transcends the last rays of the sunset
Stars pop out and become a canopy
Over the Heavens above you
Moon seems to hang by an invisible thread
Bound to the sky by our Maker's hand
Hazy mountains in the distance silhouette the horizon
The night-bird's call thrills the heart and soul
Pungent fragrance of roses in the garden
A ker-plop sound as a frog jumps from a lilly pad
Into the pond at the base of the hill
Shivers of delight create a slight chill
I dwell on all that is
And encircle my arms to warm myself
I turn to take in the tranquil beauty of the sight
But something is absent from this 'almost' perfect night
And then
I am Aware
It
Is
You

Where the ocean meets the sky
In a brilliant blend of blue
And the waves begin to roll
from the depths and change their hue
Where tides are born to high and low
And God has told them where to flow
To rise at night and ebb by day
As Nature sings them on their way
Where waves are born on ocean's floor
And sea foams wild and breakers roar
Vast waters roll to kiss the shore
But can not enter heaven's door
God's wondrous love, redemption's plan
Includes not ocean waves and sand
But created offspring of His hand
The obedient heart, the soul of man

Presuming what is
Requires a measure of truth
Eventually it will prevail
Judge not inaccurately as it could be you
Under no circumstance profile the offender
Determine to let the action of the person
In certain situations stand as their testimony
Circumstances are not always as they seem
Even when the obvious is obscured
Author Notes | We live in a city and a nation of unrest. Only by committing, one at a time, to the laying aside of all prejudice, can we hope to quell the troubled tides of time. |

I feel a little confined Lord
Sitting in this thing they call an Urn
But 'glory be' it doesn't matter, as my
Soul to you has been returned
Ashes to ashes, or, dust to dust
We are familiar with the thought
And once you really 'get it down'
You'll understand what the Savior's blood bought
He didn't die for bodies, for that temple
Is just the spirit's dwelling place
But for our soul's salvation , that we
May one day see His face
So whether I be buried or
In an urn be poured
His name I'll praise forever
For it's to Him I've been restored
Author Notes |
There are many questions concerning cremation versus burial. As our culture changes and financial cost surrounding funerals and memorials rise drastically, hopefully these 'thoughts' from the urn might be helpful if you are struggling with someone's recent cremation.

River cascades from hill to valley
Rushing onward it does not dally
Gently gliding through meadow it goes
Calms slowly down, as tranquility flows

Sentinel walls of deep crimson red

Course is well charted by its Maker's hand
Life giving force, waters collected
God's graciousness , rivers reflected
Creation's canvas, landscape to behold
Beside still waters, restoreth my soul

Author Notes | This is a picture of a porcelain doll our team restored recently. She came to us in several pieces. She was disassembled, full of cracks, and gaping holes. All she needs now is TLC, and some clothes for goodness sake. I have the pleasure of working in Hamlin's Art Restoration Studio, on a part time weekly basis. We restore museum pieces, collectibles, and personal treasures from around the world, and locally. It is an incredible opportunity, as I am exposed to another wonderful facet of artistry. I hope to use some of the pieces in poems and writings. I:-) Carolyn |

Historical landmarks
tears could not save
disposable society
Author Notes | So many magnificent and historical landmarks are being destroyed to create space for more modern structure. The buildings, are in many cases, architecturally and structurally sound. But we have become a society that disposes everything, from bottles and boxes, to the elderly and unborn. Preserve our heritage, when they are beyond physical use, the value of history is never ending. This is the old Mission Wall in San Antonio, TX USA. I hope you enjoy this short piece. :-) Carolyn |

Not very far from here
Is an awesome sight I love so dear
A hugh steel structure, 'Gateway to the West'
The Arch stands guard 'ore St Louis' best
Skyscrapers towering over the great Library
Federal Courts and Sanctuaries
Bask in the shadow of its grace
Historic St Louis, a memorable place
Botanical gardens, 1904 World's Fair
Famous Fox theater, Muny Opera's open air
Serene Forest Park and bustling Universities
The Arch opens up an area of diversity
Six Flags' extravaganza, always fun to attend
Or the Art Museum, a whole day you'll spend
Perhaps the Planetarium, or famous St Louis Zoo
An inexhaustible feat, the things you can do
The Arch welcomes all, attend a sports game
Cheer for the Cardinals, see Baseball's Hall of Fame
The Blues and Rams, their teams call it home
Or tour Grant's Farm where the Clydesdale's roam
Come see the Arch, I sincerely hope that you do
The 'Gateway to the West', is waiting for you

Poetry is like
A water-fall
Once it starts going down
You might as well
go with the flow
Poetry is like
a burning log
once it is lit
revel in it's glow
bask in welcomed
release
of warmth
Poetry is like
an incubator
if the egg
stays warm
long enough
it will hatch
Poetry is like
the sunrise
occasionally a cloud
will block it's view
but sooner or later
we see the light
Poetry is like
an invention
if you toy with it
tweak it just right
it may start
to make sense
Poetry is like
having a sibling
there is always
another person
who can relate
to your dilemma
Poetry is like
a heart shaped
piece of chocolate
a little of it
is good for you
but over indulgence...
Hey! What am I saying
everyone knows
you can't over- indulge
in Chocolate
and can one really write
too many poems
if so then
it's a 'good thing'
'cause
over-poetry-a-zation
might eventually lead
to successful

Do magpies make pies
Doe's butterfly onto bread
While catnips nude toes
Do weeping willows
green flowing branches cascade
water falls of tears
Do poets who have
No subject of great concern
Write bits of nonsense
Wake dimwitted muse
Prolonged snoring not allowed
Pen and ink await
When you reach bottom
Of this silly poem no doubt
You will pitch it out
So then do it now
Do you think I really care
Confess you've been there
A dear friend once wrote
Sometimes life is not poetic
How true those words are
Author Notes | No need to review, just have fun reading it and relate........................ How strange it is to have no particular inspiration, then find that a silly piece pops into your head and you can't get it out. So guess we just have to write it down. And again 'sometimes life is not that poetic.' |

The old gentleman had fished
most days of his life
His family once large
now just he and his wife
His boat seemed to know
where his net ought to fall
But lately dear Lord
his catch had been small
He threw out the net
'til his tired arms were spent
He pulled the net in
and found it was rent
Shadows were falling
as the last line he sewed
He must take in fishes
So gently he rowed
He threw one more time
From the opposite side
and felt from the weight
the movement of tide
He pulled and he heaved
hauled the net in the boat
so heavy with fish
not sure he would float
He remembered the Lord
and the time that He said
Have faith my child
You all will be fed
Turning his boat toward home
He saw a dim light
Thanks to the Lord
They would eat well tonight
Author Notes | Rhyming quatrains, I am not as concerned with the perfection of the poem as I am about the message. In life we very often want to give up, have Faith, keep giving it your best. Reference, KJV, Revelation 2:10.... Be faithful until death and I will give you a crown of life. |

Kelly Clarkson sings a country song as only she can do. She sings one that became a very personal reality recently. 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger..'
On Monday of this week a Kidney stone and I went into battle. The stone won. If you have ever experienced this you will agree. If they decide to exit, there is nothing that can change their mind. Not will power, that's similar to trying to stop diarrhea, or an alcoholic stopping drinking on his own. Not holding your breath, that only makes your face turn red, and makes you feel like you are going to faint. Come to think of it, fainting might have been a good idea. It is like an outlaw in jail on a rampage. They are going to break out of the jail that is holding them. They will escape.
The bloody battle went on for hours. Finally at about three in the morning, amidst feverish chills with no thrills or frills ... it happened. The kidney stone made its escape. What was that like did you say? Well, if you can imagine a full size freight-train making its way through a kitchen straw, then you can somewhat figure out what this is like.
A specialist, called a urologist, and I will be having a serious talk about this in a couple of days. They are going to the source of this obstinate out-burst. My kidneys are facing extreme interrogation about why they have decided to behave in this manner. Especially to such a nice person as myself.
In the meantime. I am being bombarded with horse-sized pills called antibiotics, which are suppose to calm everything down. And I am relying on Kelly Clarkson.... 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger...' Believe me, I'll need all the strength I can muster should another little bugger decide to make a get away.
Author Notes |
Between torn rotator cuffs and kidney stones , if I have a choice, I think I'll go with the sore shoulders.
BTW: Read Phillipians 4:13 and you will know where my 'real' strength comes from. |

Marvelous in every way
Escapes the cold
Transcends all imagination
And hides away 'til spring
Making a home in which to dwell
Opulent caterpillar builds a cocoon
Resting and changing as it grows
Peculiar rite of passage
Habitat becomes its food
Obeying laws of nature
Slowly morphs into adulthood
Inspiration for a gracious life
Sensational debut .. the Beautiful Butterfly
Author Notes | Some folks say they can't change. Just think of the Butterfly... It looks nothing like the old creature, the old man... but change can, and will come, if we want it too. It has a name... repentance.. we can morph into a changed person... Be patient with yourself.. and as the caterpillar rest and waits for the winter to pass, the butterfly will emerge. |

Salmon embark

they'll surely fail
Beset by bears

Up-stream

We went in the door
and much to our surprise
on every space but the floor
was the look of enterprise
Money on the ceiling
money in the halls
money on the rafters
and tacked on every wall
One million dollars and one half
swaying in the air
framing every picture
touch me if you dare
Each bill was signed and dated
and tacked with ceremony
barely a pin size between
held close like matrimony
And oh yes, the food was tasty
'Senate bean soup' the spe-ci-al-ity
it made you realize that's how
a million and a half became reality
Author Notes | Not necessarily a meter perfect piece, but fun to write. I took the picture in McGuire's Restaurant in Destin, Florida. It's Irish atmosphere was enhanced by 'sweet bonnie lasses' dressed in their folk dresses, serving with cheery smiles, and Irish jigs playing for entertainment. |

Don't stop me now
I'm getting on a roll
Don't stop me now
I'm writing what I'm told
She's yelling get your pen
So I get it and then
On the paper I spend
Hours upon end
Inspiration I guess
Could be blamed for this mess
But who is to blame
When I never gain fame
Is it me or my muse
I'm getting confused
I may get the blues
But what have I to lose
Don't stop me now
I'm definitely on a roll
Don't stop me now
I'm only writing what I'm told
Author Notes | Completely silly... Do you ever think like this.. I call it a poetic exercise.. Good for the brain.. :-) |

When all is said and done my friend
This life is short at its best
It ends almost before it begins
In eternities realm of the blest
We may think
everyone will be there
For it's offered
to you and to me
But we can't expect
that place of sweet rest
If we deny Him before men
'Don't you see'
I'ts not difficult
to submit to His will
With a heart that is
honest and humble
But sometimes we stray
and go our own way
Running down the wrong road
makes us stumble
Pride gets in our way
and hinders life's path
If we try making it
through with no goal
When God is our strength
we need not try it alone
His Love forgives and
Restores the lost soul
When all is said and done
My friend
Life is short
At it's best

Fog hanging in the air thick as soup
Often making it next to impossible to see
Gagging on the thickness and the morning stench
Grappling with the smell of rotting fish
Yesterday's tide had left upon the beach
Moorings shaded from the struggling sun
Ovations rise from seagulls awaiting the morning feast
Retreating tides expose a lavish buffet
Nothing can penetrate this gray shroud
It encases the outdoor environment
Not willing to release its hold
Grasping desperately as the dawn of a new day drives it away
Author Notes | Acrylic on Canvas... Foggy morning.. 16 X 20.. I painted a series of Foggy seascapes .. ah the mystery of the misty shroud. I posted this in the wrong format. Should be in poetry. Hope you enjoy it anyway... Carolyn. (Ps: Tom must have fixed this thank you Tom) |

The frost lay crisp upon the grass
as I rose and viewed the new morning
My car started with a bit of sluggish sound
it struggled to remove the icy particles
trapped along the edges of the windshield
As I entered the ramp to the freeway
The early morning sunshine met its mark
And for a moment I was blinded by the light
Ah yes... the West.. The West is beckoning me
The warmth of the desert and its charm
Are twisting my arm once more.. Come out west
Ah yes.. the West.. the West is beckoning me
Through Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico
Highways stretch with vanishing point ahead
Like a well-balanced landscape spread on an artist easel
Sprays of color mingle to blend an array of prismatic delight
Mountains rise in far distance a continental divide
Tall cedars and aspens guarding the forest as sentinels
Elk graze close to highway, unafraid of motorized activity
The west is beckoning as onward I go
Descending from the mountain where pinion and cedar thrive
Saguaro and other cactus dot the rock and are havens for fowl and fur
the valley is now in full view ,the Arizona desert lies on either side.
Sunshine's through the windshield and I find I must rid myself
of my coat. Palms and oleanders embellish the roadway,
magpies hop along cheerily and bikers
pedal to a tune only they can hear.
Aw yes.. the west has beckoned and I have arrived...
Author Notes | Very minimal punctuation.. I have written this in singular however, my hubby and I will be leaving for Arizona on 1/13/2015.. I took this photo last August, we had stopped for Indian Tacos. This was the scene behind the roadside stand. Off the interstate, somewhere in New Mexico. |

Did you fold your hands today
In reverence for the Father above
Did you say "Thanks for everything"
Yesterday is past and nothing can be changed
Open your heart and ask for His guidance
Understand His Word and obey Him
Please know that He cares when you are sad
Rely on His wisdom as He wants what is best for you
Always trust His word, for God never lies
Yield to His will and not your own
Take His advice for He is much wiser than we are
Other gods cannot be a part of your life
Deny self and follow Him, it is joy in the making
Always tell others about His love

Together
Whatever may come our way
we will face it with faith
together
When happiness is at our door
and we thrill to the touch of each other
we will cherish our days and treasure our nights
together
Whenever sunshine and good fortune
are more abundant than sorrow and fears
we will be thankful to Him
together
Whenever storm clouds rise
We will weather the rain and wind
the challenges of daily life
together
When age catches up to us
and days seem longer than they should be
we will wait for the softness of the evening
together
When life is nearing a close
And eternity is knocking at our door
our faith will keep us strong
We are prepared to cross that threshold
into eternity
together
When we meet again up there
and know as we've been known
by faith we'll live forever in His presence
together

It doesn't matter young or old
We all are blessed with a spirit
Called Soul
It comes within a body born
A physical casing shrouds
its form
It was given us by the living God
Long before on earth
we trod
He breathed the breath of life
into the image he made
like Himself
And empowered that spirit
The soul if you will, to reflect
His light
The soul can be happy, contrite or sad
It is the essence of our being
inner man
It comes equipped to know right from wrong
It can be poetic , lilting in song
our attitude
When the soul passes from this life
to the next , God claims what
is His
The spirit leaves the body and returns
to the Lord who made it, He will give
its reward

Saga of Sam
The desert lay bare and flat as a pan
Except for the distant silhouette of a man
He stumbled on in the raging sun
Trying to out-run the things he had done
He had no intent of taking her life
But nonetheless, Sam shot his wife
He had found her in the arms of a stranger
Shot them both out of passion and anger
Why did she do it, why did she stray
Sam had told her he would return one day
But she'd been told he was lost at sea
She'd waited for him ten years faithfully
How could she know he was touring the world
Sam never wrote to his heart broken girl
Just took for granted she'd always be there
Would never accept other love, she'd not dare
But Sam waited too long and came back too late
He found them together, she and her mate
Killed them dead he did, in a fit of rage
Now dying lay he, by a scruffy old sage
No water to quench his hell bent tongue
No cool air to breath into his parched lung
The posse drew closer, but they were too late
Sam wouldn't hang , sometimes justice can't wait

Thunder rolls its beat
Heavens open, lightning strikes
He commands, rain falls
Sun sets in ocean
Tidal waves crash into shore
God reigns over all

are fewer than snowflakes

Author Notes | We seldom see a rainbow, and must look diligently for the waterfall, the snowflakes are innumerable, and opportunity may only knock once. When it does, grasp it and hold on. |

There is a song that goes, 'all that glitters is not gold.'
Sometimes the world uses the beautiful 'Golden Rule' of Matthew 7:12 in ways that the Lord did not intend. He said, "whatsoever you want men to do to you, do also to them".. In other words, as we have heard it all our life, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
I find it so very interesting, that we have used a precious metal, to represent that particular passage. And fittingly so.
Gold can be beaten into any shape, it can be ran over by a train, it can go through fire, be melted and poured into a mold , it can withstand ocean depths and salt water, yet will not tarnish,it will always retain its shine.
When alloys and other metals are added, we may have white gold, green gold, even pink gold, however, once again, if it goes through fire all those 'additives' are burned away (refined) if you will, and pure gold is left. As pure as when it started.
The measurement that God gave us, 'The Golden Rule,' can not be destroyed, it is perfect in nature. It remains pure. However, mankind may try to change it by 'doing unto others before they do it unto me.' They may avoid it and even shame it, but it can not be denied. It will always be the best way, to deal with every situation, in a world of chaos.
Wouldn't it be a great thing if National leaders would implement the 'Golden Rule?'
Perhaps we could have World Peace after all.
Author Notes | What a terrible atrocity we have witnessed once again, in the loss of life on M17. My heart goes out to everyone in this horrible tragedy. |

Hello everyone,
Tina Mitchell is a close friend of Gungalo's, Pam's family. She is compiling a book of the 'Tributes to Pam' poetry, written by her Fanstory friends. She has been able to identify and copy several of those poems. However, in the event you have written a poem or a story and wish it to be a part of this effort, please email it to mitchamute@yahoo.com . The email tab, at the bottom of, or right side of, your posting will send the link to Tina.
This compilation of special works will be presented to her family, when they have the final memorial service for Pam, which will be in St. Thomas.
Thank you from Tina, for the sweet comments, and love, you have shown for hers, and our dear friend.
Love, Carolyn

Welcome
Author Notes | Mother use to say, your always welcome to come and welcome to go. We love you but don't have room for you to move in. There was 10 of us so it became a fun comment we shared. However, kids always wanted to sleep over at our house. Especially those who had no brothers or sisters. We always loved sharing ours. |

Tear drop slid down Rose's chin
and watered roots so fine
God's care of His creation
Astounds the finite mind.
How often times we fail to see
the broader spectrum of His care
He loves us each and everyone
A Rose he gives for us to share
Fair flowers are the breath of spring
unveiled in blooms not shy
so what if thorns bedeck her stems
it's not for us to question why
God made the Rose a queenly sort
it's beauty well defined
other flowers cannot compare
in grace to Rose sublime
When you see the dew-drop slide
down Rose's cheek so fair
it may be just a tear you see
next to the smile she'll wear
