"Recurring Nightmare" Saraband
Poetry Contest
*This contest is brought to you by "The Little Workshop of Horrors" club*
Write a Saraband poem about a recurring nightmare. A nightmare by definition should be dark, or at least intense and traumatic. Please no sweet visitations from your beloved grandmother as you share tea and catch up (UNLESS she turns into a monster half way through the tea party, in which case, this is perfectly fine.)
---A Saraband is a poetry form that consists of a 7-line stanza (a tercet and a quatrain).
---A Saraband can have either (8) or (10) syllables per line, but each line must maintain this choice.
---There are (4) possible rhyme schemes: Spanish: aaabcbc; English: axabcbc; French: axabbcc; and Italian: axabccb). Any of these are acceptable.
---A Saraband is the name of the stanza. If you choose to write more than one stanza for your poem, this is totally fine. These are called Double Sarabands, Triple Sarabands, etc.
---All warnings are available for your Saraband.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 5.00 member dollars. There are 17 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
