Gneiss is Nice, or Rocks Rock

Poetry Contest
This is a contest for those of you who are rock collectors, rock admirers, or anyone with any interest in geology. It can also be broadly defined to include minerals, pet rocks, rock gardens, petrified wood, petrified dinosaur bones and other fossils, stone cliffs, and pebbles on a beach. It does NOT include sad, rocky relationships. Unless, of course, your pet rock abandoned you or gave you a stony stare. Humorous, serious, satirical, rhymed, unrhymed, but it must be at least 4 (four) lines long. Footnotes for unfamiliar geological terms will be appreciated. Puns are a bonus, but not required. If you write in a specific form, identify it anywhere you want to, possibly in author notes.

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 60.00 member dollars. There are only 3 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 72.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.

Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Friday, September 6, 2019.
