The Holidays
Poetry Contest
Write a free verse poem about the holidays. This can be a Christmas poem, Hanukkah, Kwanza, or any designated holiday you choose. It can also be about NOT celebrating a holiday and what pressures may come to bear from that aspect of the season. ANYTHING pertaining to holidays is acceptable including "going on holiday" as I've heard a "vacation" referred to. I don?t want to exclude anyone.
Remember, this is free verse. You may use all poetic devices freely including meter and rhyme. However, there should be no pattern or discernable form i.e., no sonnets, quaterns, nonets or anything else that has a formal structure.
Presentation is at the discretion of the artist with no restrictions.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 70.00 member dollars. There are 4 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Sunday, December 23, 2018.
