A Tribute to Heroes
Poetry Contest
Write a SUITE of 5/7/5 poems to celebrate heroes for MEMORIAL DAY or Another special day in your country that honors/pays tribute to any/all MILITARY heroes. Heroes include ALL military men/women--past/present (no political 'bashing' or rude, crude, tacky words/phrases)
***compose a suite of 3, 4, or 5 poem in the format of 5/7/5:
line 1 = 5 syllables /line 2 = 7 syllables /line 3 = 5 syllables
***DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A SUITE OF HAIKU--no kigo, no satori, poem is about PEOPLE (not a senyru either) no animals, grammar connection in lines 1 & 2 not required (lines MAY flow together), ALL rules of haiku are ignored. No end line rhyming.
TOPIC--Military hero(es) [authors may include reference to a day/date]
STYLE--suite of 5/7/5 Compose 3, 4, or 5 poems on 1 theme
No music, videos, animations, embedded words in picture, if using a picture, 1 color font, 1 color background, author notes allowed but no video/music in them. No political 'bashing' or rude, crude, tacky words.phrases
DEDICATION, if desired, may be included above text of poem.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 50.00 member dollars. There are 8 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 5 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
