Poetry Contest
This is a club event sponsored by the Free Versers.
Write a free verse poem from the perspective of something that is not yourself or any other living thing. You must choose an inanimate object. You can select ANY item you wish, from a coffee cup to the Empire State Building. Your poem will be written as though the object itself has written the poem. For instance, as the coffee cup you might write: "they've switched to tea, woe is me, I gather dust, what must I do, I'm as sad as a coffee cup can be" etc. I'm not saying that is any good. LOL But that is the idea. Remember, a free verse poem is NOT words thrown on a page, it is poetry and uses all the tools of poetry, rhythm, rhyme, alliteration, metaphor, etc. However, as free versers WE decide the formatting. Each piece is our ORIGINAL invention and unique. We follow no patterns; we invent patterns that suit us and what we create.
Only free verse poetry is acceptable. No structured poetry of any kind is allowed.
There are no restrictions on presentation.
There are no restrictions on length.
Remember, your piece MUST be from the perspective of an inanimate object. Do NOT write a piece ABOUT an inanimate object. You are not writing the piece, the OBJECT IS WRITING THE PIECE. If this isn't clear, ask questions in the threads.
If you don't understand the rules, don't enter. You will be disqualified if you don't follow them. I hope I've made them clear.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool of 180.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 5 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
