ARTFUL HAIGA

Poetry Contest
Please, create a HAIGA about anything in nature, including human nature.

First, write a haiku. It's a Japanese poem written in three lines with 17 syllables or less. A popular form is 5/7/5. Include a direct or indirect reference to one of the four seasons and an insightful satori in the last line. Keep it as brief as possible.

Second, look for a picture that relates to your poem. I use google public domain but you can use any kind. Remember to give credit to the artist if you know the name.

To be a haiga, the words must go over the picture or right beneath it and they must be clearly related.

If you need help creating a haiga, send me a private message and I will send you detailed step by step instructions on how to do it.

It's a lot of fun and I encourage you to try. Even if you don't draw, paint, color, or even doodle, I know you can do it. We all have an artist inside dying to come out.

The most important part ... have fun!
