Poetry Contest
The topic you may choose from, for this poetry contest, is: Create your own Psalm (Song Lyrics):
Psalm of praise to God (e.g. Psalm 103)
- OR -
Psalm in praise to God for His attributes (e.g. Psalm 145)
I.) The Psalm must contain 4 verses, and no more.
II.) It must have 4 lines in each verse, and no more.
III.) Syllable count - lines 1 and 3 must each have 10, and no more.
IV.) The last word in lines 1 and 3, MAY but DO NOT have to, rhyme with one another.
However, the last word in lines 1 and 3 CANNOT rhyme or almost rhyme, with the last word in lines 2 and 4.
V.) Syllable count - lines 2 and 4 is no more than 8.
Write a Psalm that somehow incorporates the topic. The lyrics to your Psalm must specifically match the topic and guidelines, but creative approaches are welcomed. Contest voters will be asked to consider the topic when making a choice for a winner.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 45.00 member dollars. There are only 3 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 54.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 5 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
