PantyGynt, a new form
Poetry Contest
Try a fun and musical new form that was recently created by fellow Fanstorian PantyGynt and named after him by Tfawcus.
This form is written in iambic meter.
It can contain multiple "cycles".
One cycle has the following elements in order:
1. a quatrain of alternately rhyming [abab] iambic tetrameter (8 syllables), alternating with iambic trimeter (6 syllables);
2. a tercet of mono-rhyming [ccc] iambic tetrameter (8 syllables)
3. a single line of iambic trimeter (6 syllables) taking up the b rhyme of the quatrain.
Here's an example of a cycle:
8 syllables, rhyme A: The winter winds embrace her shape
6 syllables, rhyme B: with silken silver snow.
8 syllables, rhyme A: Her fleeing feet still can't escape
6 syllables, rhyme B: what's torturous to know.
8 syllables, rhyme C: His face follows her from the moon,
8 syllables, rhyme C: a crescent smile that seems immune
8 syllables, rhyme C: to earthly feelings or Hell's doom -
6 syllables, rhyme B: her mournful afterglow
Please have fun with it!
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 52.00 member dollars. There are 5 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 72.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Wednesday, March 16, 2016.
