Novel Writing

FanStory.com and GWL Publishing have teamed up to provide authors an opportunity for a publishing contract. Submit a synopsis and the first three chapters of a new book for this contest. GWL Publishing will read all the entries and choose one author to offer a publishing contract. Up to two additional authors may also receive a publishing contract.

All entries must be submitted here at FanStory.com (not by email or other means). Simply click the button provided in this contest announcement. You will be prompted to create your book and to share your synopsis. At anytime prior to the deadline you can add the first, second and third chapter. To do so, view your synopsis and click the "Add Chapter" button.

Your synopsis should summarize the main events of the story including the characters and where and when the story takes place. Keep in mind that the synopsis is what sells the editor on the manuscript.

GWL Publishing will also read your first three chapters. Only post the first three chapters until after the winners are announced. So if your book continues wait until the announcement of the winners before continuing it on FanStory.com. Each of the first three chapters should be between 2,000 - 4,000 words in length. Maximum Length of first three chapters is 10,000 words. A post must follow these rules (have a a synopsis, be at least three chapters and be the proper length) to be considered. In addition, when posting your chapters for the "content sharing" question say "No".

The topic is open! Your book can be about anything. New works only. No poetry. No children's books. The work must be previously unpublished in any channel or form and submitted in English. There are no geographical restrictions in terms of where the author lives or where the book is set. The book must also be new to FanStory.

When ready, click the button provided and you will be prompted to create your book and submit your synopsis.

One entry per person. New entries only. Maximum Length of first three chapters is 10,000 words. Recommended length 2,000 - 4,000 words for each chapter.

The winners will be selected by the GWL Publishing. A winner will be announced approximately one to two weeks after the deadline passes. The decision is final.

The winner takes away a $100 cash prize. All writers will receive feedback for their submission.

Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Friday, November 28, 2014.
