Prayer can help a lot--or meditation or Yoga. It might be good to consult with someone, too, in moments when it become severe. I also recommend trying alternative therapies like Acupuncture or massage, as they can help unblock energy flow and release stuck emotions as well. If you do not know any meditation techniques, I'll share below a simple breathing one you might try. Note that it may seem slightly silly at first but I promise it is extremely effective because the mind is use to thinking through the senses...so using the sense to control the mind can be very effective. Sit in a comfortable posture and close your eyes. Breathe in deeply and slowly (from your diaphragm) and visualize you're breathing in golden light (imbued with love and healing). Hold the breath in your heart area for a few seconds. Release it twice as slowly as you breathed it in, imagining all dark emotions leaving on the trail of breath--visualizing it as dark grey or black smoke. After doing this a few times, continue doing it while simultaneously imagining a 'cosmic' root stemming from the base of your spine down into the earth. When you feel this root is 'grounded', start imagining it is sprouting a stem coming up your spine to the heart area. Then visualize it slowly blossoming (all the while continuing to breathe in light and breath out darkness). When you feel the density of darkness subsiding, imagine the bud bursting open and blooming in your heart. Picture it (whatever color you wish) shining with a radiant glow of love and healing vibrations. Then let that glow expand to fill the room you're in. On the next few breaths, let the glow slowly expand further--to fill the house or building, then the whole street or area, then the whole town or city...then the country, continent, plant, galaxy etc. Open your eyes and try to see the same peaceful glow within you and all around you.
