Margaret Snowdon lives in a small country village in England, with her husband. She has 3 grown-up sons & a daughter, two beautiful grand-daughters and a loveable grandson. Both she and her husband are ardent readers and love to travel. As a creative outlet she enjoys writing novels, short stories and poems.
I love to write about a wide variety of subjects within many forms of poetry, but mainly enjoy writing about nature and wild life. The odd poem and an article of mine has been published in a magazine - Countryside Tales. Also my poem "The Last Leaf of Autumn" was published in Collected Whispers (The International Library of Poetry).
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read my work. I am looking forward to the enjoyment of reading your gems as well. |

Margaret Snowdon: My latest Novel - COCKERMOUTH FARM is now available on Amazon and Kindle.
--------------------------------
COCKERMOUTH FARM
Charlotte Gray asks Bryan Powell, the local school teacher, to be godfather to her young son, Richard, knowing he would ensure the child gets a good education.
From a distance, Cockermouth Farm looks to be in a pleasant spot, a glimpse of mown fields, bright, translucent greenness against the purple of the moor. But to Charlotte, it was a hungry farm, needing never-ending toil. Her husband, Albert, is a hard task-master and wants more children for the farm; lads to drive cattle, load hay, sow and plough; lasses to scrub and bake, to milk and churn. But Charlotteâ??s left weak and tormented after giving birth to another stillborn child. Young Richard becomes afraid of his mother, turning more and more to the help, Megan Godhill whoâ??s fond of the boy and promises never to leave him.
Charlotte loses her mind after the birth of a daughter and attempts to take Richardâ??s life. When sheâ??s shut away in an asylum, Megan takes over her duties and the caring of Richard. But Meganâ??s father discovers sheâ??s pregnant by Albert Gray and marries her off to the unsuspecting Ted Morgan, and she breaks her promise by never going to see Richard again.
As the years pass and Richard is grown, he takes over the farm after his fatherâ??s death and battles with the land and his memories. When the lovely Ruby Kimball comes into his life, everything changes and he desperately wants to take her as his wife, but has nothing to offer but Cockermouth Farm and endless chores.
Hungry and barren the hills might be, but Ruby Kimball sees only beauty in them. Will Richardâ??s love be returned? Will fate take a turn and enable him to marry her? Or will he go the way of his parents â?? toiling day in and day out until the farm wears him down and breaks his spirit?

My Newest Novel - THE ALLURE OF THE WILD (ISBN-10: 1480184306)- is now available on Amazon and Kindle.
-------------------------------------------
A work of fiction - written with Nature lovers in mind, this story is about wild-life, country-folk and their way of life - set in The Lake District of Cumbria, England, where every problem in life is eased as peace and beauty shed their blessings like sunset glow at eventide.
Jake Goodwin is a young man who has a love of solitary places, the seeing eye and a sympathetic heart for all living creatures. It's a three mile tramp over the fells from the cottage where he lives with his widowed mother, to the moss-clad barn in which he works as apprentice carpenter alongside Fletcher Hopper, over in Uldale.
Jake makes a friend of young Julia Furnell, whose parents have taken over Uldale Farm.
Over the years, their love of nature draws the two young people closer together. Will Hopper, Fletcher's rapscallion, dare-devil son, fights Jake over Julia. But will she turn to him? Or does her heart belong to Jake?
When tragedy strikes, it changes Jake's life. Will he loose his shyness and tell Julia how he feels about her? Or is he to lead a life of loneliness?

And her cousin, Christa Sheridan, a warm-hearted girl, wild and audacious, with a fiercely independent spirit.

PUBLISHED - THREE FULL-LENGTH NOVELS - SYNOPHIS OF EACH BELOW
1)THE PROMISE OF HEAVEN (The Greenward Saga) ALSO AVAILBE ON KINDLE
2)WHERE THE CURLEW FLIES
3)THE EDGE OF HEAVEN (sequel, but also can stand-alone)
THE PROMISE OF HEAVEN
A passionate saga set in the first half of the nineteenth century in the glorious Lake District of Cumbria, England, in the midst of a mining and farming community. And the High Society of Piccadilly, London - "the magic mile" as it was known, stretching from Hyde Park Corner all the way along to Piccadilly Circus, revealing a glittering age in all its splendid and scandalous variety. A story of love and unsettling passions, of the people and the land, relating to two very different young women and the men in their lives.
The first, the alluring Madame Duprez - an exquisitely beautiful and wealthy, young widow with the most extravagant tastes of a Courtesan, who can seduce a man at twenty paces without even showing her flesh.
The second, the lovely 17-year-old Jessica Greenward ?? a warm-hearted girl that believes in love and magic and who assumes, with the optimism of youth, that every cloud has a silver lining. Yet, not quite an Angel, with a streak of wildness about her that is admired by more than just one man. Luke Sheridan, who constantly plagues her mind, is already married to another, but when his young wife tragically dies in childbirth, Jessica starts a turbulent friendship that turns into a wild love that has to struggle for fulfilment through a time of deep sorrow.
=========================================
WHERE THE CURLEW FLIES
Jessica Greenward is a young woman who yearned for a lifetime union with the man who has stolen her heart, the handsome Luke Sheridan, to live in a fine house in the Lakelands of Cumbria, which was her idea of Heaven.
Luke Sheridan is a prosperous business man, owner of the Low Wood Timber Company and The Sheridan Mining Company. The mines that had claimed the lives of two of Jessica??s brothers, and of which her father, Daniel Greenward, is manager. Luke??s strength derives from the countryside in which, for all his absorption in money making, his heart lies. Having lost his first wife in childbirth, he marries Jessica for breeding purposes only, but to his surprise finds that the more he sees of her, the more he likes her. But then, Amelia Duprez comes back into his life, whose very touch is a zest and exhilaration that stirs his blood, satisfying a yearning for fresh experiences. Luke is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. Stooping to such a course is merely a craving for lust ?? no more strange than hunger ?? a hunger that finally leads to disaster.
When the man she loves approaches her with The Promise of Heaven, Jessica gladly accepts and expects him to love her in return. But faced with demons of loss and pain, she is gradually bowed and almost broken when he abuses her in the most appalling way.

| gramalot8: Margaret, this is off the subject but I felt I could trust your answers. As you know, I am new on this site. I have been enjoying it very much. But yesterday I read about this site really only being a "Scam", taking money for it's own purpose, no really "true money winners" etc. It really bothered me, yet I feel compelled to stay on and see what happens. How long have you been on this site, are you, for example, a 'real' writer, earning, winning, etc?? I hope so and hope you will answer me. In any case, I still love your poems and, like you, will keep writing. If not here, always somewhere.

Ricky1024: My Dearest friend my Margeret,
I think I may have found my niche in this complecated world of writing.
Childrens stories are so very much in need.
our pained and now frightened world is and has now become a place of shame in heavenly father's eyes and His Sn Jesus Christ our creator.
out of the mouth of babes lies the transgressions of our realities.
so very enblazened with Christ's crystal clarities.
these thoughs and so many other gifts, bestowed to only a mere few mortal beings on this planet, are meant to reconnect us, subject us, allow us to not ponder why but to have that self-realization that only comes unfortunately when we die.
i died in 2006 with a triple suicide attempt[its in my portfolio.] To understand we must need not to be subjected to the pains of death and resurrection but to take your neighbors hand and rekindle.
our leaders are fortunately to invvolved with power, greed, war, and thier own self-worth.
when we pass that means nothing.
you are more of a nobody then the alcholic down the street.
my written books will be handled by selected women literal agents.
They will not be mailed, sampled, or oogled and confiscated.
I will look that individual in the eke and they will learn that this, this I don't know what the HELL will have come from a place other then the mentally pained, depressed, bi-polered Mormon priest mind.
there is no avenue that I will not face, no human that I will ever fear, there is no debate that i have or ever lose.
One mind at a time, one written word at a time, one single helping deed at a time, will bring this sorry, polluted, Earth back to the pristine, original, state that we all so sorely need.
pride, and greed by the "big three" need to be watched, anylized, controlled and conquered for those human beings are sick, worthless, and no leaving a legacy of ample riches for generations.
but are leaving the spoiled goods of past realities.
i will amaze you and every living searching, pained, sick,wn and out being.
i will use my gift to heal as i have been for over 6 years now.
Finally I can see a tiny glimmer, a warm and cozy shimmer, of hope, faith, and love as i search the spirits of the ones that I so dearly LOVE.
written 8-7-2012 at 2;38 PM in my room in the multi-billion dollar hotel resort Casino "The Revel' in beautiful Atlantic City New jersey.
