I love the poem. Shakespeare has lasted over 4 centuries. He was a great poet. People can still relate to him. He wrote about people. He wrote about peoples problems. Most of these problems never change. Great work.

Hello, my dear friend,

I've been busy and not had time to get into my mailbox - missed the payout .. darn it! (But you know I don't read your stuff for payment - but because we're friends and I do enjoy your work, Santha. :))

You did well with the sonnet. It's not an easy form to write - keeping track of the rules. A great topic - to laud Shakespeare in his own chosen poetic medium. :)

Just one thing, dear ... the lines below (and this could be me being up late tonight!) ... the iambic pentameter seemed to stumble. Just go back and check to make sure you have the five week/strong accents on these lines - maybe it was just me)

Have a lovely weekend. My best wishes go with you in the contest.

All my love,

xxx

Sonali :)

Sonali, I know you dont review my posts for payment ,that's why I particularly wanted you to benefit from it.I did not write it consciously in the iambic form.(I thought 14 lines,a rhyme scheme and consistent syllable count was enough for sonnet) mainly because the way indians pronounce the words ,i am not sure which are the strong and which are the weak words..As a student of Lit: I found this very tough (especially when we had to do scanning for prosodic feature). Is it important that sonnet has to be in iambic?( Iambic lines should start with weak syllable.here i should change 'lovers' and 'Timeless'? One more person commented about it .I will try to change it.
.I was about to post it on my own .then i noticed this contest.

A Shakespearan sonnet consists of three quatrains and a rhyming couplet - all in iambic pentameter.

    Iamb - a foot with a weak/strong accent.

You can count on your fingers - it helps -
ta-DUM/ta DUM (five times each line) Hope this helps!

    Love you!

Although I have not read your prior writings I think I will have to start. I enjoyed and understood you meaning and the fact that although the language seems of earlier the message tells that human nature really has not changed to much. That is a shame. Good job and I look forward to more.

Thank you very much.yes so true,no? people have not changed, we have not anything from History. Shakespera has written about everything, racism ,marginalised people, greed, ambitions, jealousy.everything is there .thats why he is still relevant ,in spite of the language.(I have an elderly mother to take care of ,so I write only occasionally. but i read fanstory posts whenever I get some time . This is my bolt hole)

A superb tribute to Shakespeare. A prolific and popular writer of his time. I'm sure he'd be amazed at his continued popularity 450 years later! Nicely penned poem.

A celebration of the Bard and his great gifts 'To delve into the depths of human mind' and his ability to 'spun a tapestry so rich'.

O! great Bard, indeed! I consider this a more than adequate tribute to Shakespeare. He was a heartfelt, emotional genius. I think you did an excellent job on this.

Hello. A very nice tribute to old Will. He was the first writer, producer...and best seller. Imagine if he had the world wide net...well, he does I guess, in a way...

This is a beautiful tribute to one of the greatest writers in history. A wonderfully written sonnet that ebbed and flowed smoothly from stanza to stanza with an excellent accompaniment of the above image. Very well suited.

An excellent sonnet, written in tribute to possibly the most gifted of poets! This work has been eloquently penned, with a well expressed, descriptive narrative that " brings to life" the ancient bard to the present day time! A sound a ababcc rhyme scheme, and a nice even meter! Well done, good luck, Roy.
