I like the way you have retracted back to the first stanza with your last stanza.
You used the plight of nature well in homing in on your thesis.
An event that follows mankind regardless of the religion one chooses.
Your thesis is well delivered , along with your extensive author's notes in connection with faith.
A good write , Roy.
Best wishes,
RGstar

Such wonderful rhyme and meter. A beautiful story that circles back for completion. I really liked your key question, "I wonder why, this Saviour's name, Is cursed by man, held in disdain." Nice flow. Nice message.

Hi Roy

When I first saw the pix, I instantly flashed in my mind, Mel Gibson's 'Passion of the Christ' movie. I hate sub-titles, though for this movie I sat in awe! I even have the DVD.

Absolutely spot on pix for your beautiful poem too.

I'm afraid we'll never see the day when someone isn't trying to undo Christianity - outlaw it. Such a sin.

Blessings my friend.
Keep Smilin'.... Jax

Thank you Jax, I think it does look like Mel Gibson's Passion, but you'll have to ask the artist! I just know it was appropriate for the poem! Thank you, we seem to be bumping into one another, but thank you you have been so supportive and I appreciate it! Blessings, Roy.

solid use of rhyming couplets
great use of illustrative examples
good alliteration in bound, betrayed
I love the way the final stanza picks up the imagery from earlier in the poem
This is beautifully composed with a powerful spiritual message

beautiful poem of our Lord jesus and his dying love for us. good aabb rhyme in 8 syllable count (is it trochaic tetrameter? not sure) can be tricky. beautifully done. I'm not sure Bec, I'm very much " unchurched " in the subtleties of poetic form, I'm only an " instinctive poet "! have branched out into a few different types, but I much prefer the type you read here, the syllable count was quite deliberate however! I enjoyed your writing, so I look forward to more freedom for you in the future! I'm "surgically" attached to my IPad so I know what you mean! Thank you for your amazing review and 6, I appreciate it, dear sister, blessings and prayers. Roy.

This is an excellent poetic example of our Lord's reason for his death on the cross. The rhythm and rhyming is excellent. The poem thought provoking and biblically sound. Nice work I had to give it an excellent rating! Keep on penning! Connie

Beautifully written with a message that is close to my heart. Your rhymed quatrains flow nicely with a good rhythm, although I did stumble a bit on this line:
to die for all, said, "finished, done."
I wonder if it would flow better if you added he said or it is finished.
Just a thought.
I think your words are well penned and your message is beautifully clear.

Thank you for your observations and supportive review, my only defence is I needed to rhyme with son, that's all I could come up with, blessings, Roy.

The message is timely and relevant, celebrating Christ's passion on the cross and His sacrifice to save mankind. Thanks for sharing a poem that evangelizes God's love for mankind.

A lovely faith poem written with true feeling. Last line of second stanza 'On a cross is/he hung? small typo? or am I misreading. Whatever, this is well written and gives a solemn message. Very sadly dramatic picture. Regards Dorothy
