Oh man. I'm taken aback. This is phenomenal. I mean really. I already voted for it but I hadn't had a chance to write the review. I read it last night. It brings so many emotions out. I mean seriously this is a PERFECT piece. Not simple rhyming bland poetry. It's a story written with amazing flow and a phenomenal poetic voice. Fantastic descriptions. Unique. Such vivid imagery. Your phrases, coupling of certain words. I mean wow. I LOVE going along for the ride. I crave it. Crave your words. Wow wow wow S.

Even the landscape stood at attention. WOW. That sticks with me. AWESOME.
Skeletons of roses crumble. ??? How did you come up with that. PERFECT.

BRAVO. I can feel your heart here. TEN STARS.

oh YEAH!! I'm delighted that you found this one Greg - I was hoping you would! We do enjoy our crafting of EXACTLY the words we want, hmm?
Bless you, big time, for taking the time to review - and, of course, a sixer doesn't hurt either!

This is a sad story of a rich woman show thought her things made her rich not her family. He seams like she was a cold person when you were young. Now that she is old and probably has Altzheimers she seems to see that people are more important than things.

The format and repetition seems to enhance the emotion. It shows sadness, loneliness and anger. But also some love.

Congrats on your ranking

Keep writing

I love the picture. I love the poem. Our parents were raised in a different age with values that seem strange to us. We can often take their values personally. Older women were raised to try to have the perfect house. That was the value society placed on them. Children often think their mother thought more of the material things. We learn to forgive their values as we age. Great work.

We do indeed, Nellie - you're spot on. And I've had to go through that process myself!

Things have a way of coming to a complete turn around, don't they? I love how you show the changes in an aging body and mind through describing the metamorphosis of the house and its particular aging process. It's true that priorities change as we approch the transition. Well done. Good luck in the contest. Would be good to see a woman win that contest for a change! Yeah!

I think we all become an echo of our mother at some time. This is a timely reading for me. Now that I have reached my twilight years, I am trying to get my life in order. Yet if I fail I believe I've set an example. Best wishes with your entry.

I'm 61, Jeanie ... and believe me, it gives me great food for thought when I look in the mirror and see my mother reflected back at me sometimes!

I 'm crying like the baby I feel I am right now. The poignancy of this is usurped only by this meaning woven into such a poem. A six

Congratulations on your nomination. It is so deserved. One of the best and most touching pieces I've read here in a while. The form of this is perfection. Just the right words floating down at just the right time. So thoughtfully put together. It adds to the meaning. Well done, mikey

Engaging, touching, haunting, evocative - this poem is all of these and more. I think the structure of the poem is excellent. The separate lines with the words cascading downward really builds a sense of momentum and echoes the sentiment behind the words.

It brought a tear to my eye, beautifully written.

I love both the art work and words written

The words written told of the closeness

Between mother and child in a special way.

I loved the closeness within the last few words.
