Wow. This really sucked me in. Sherwood's interaction with Edie before and after she passed kept me reading. I especially liked the phrase "Edie was a cat person and I was an Edie person."
Nice job all around.

Thank you, Ladydrea. I'm delighted you enjoyed the story.
I wrote another story about this couple. It's called Edie and Hazy. I usually write about them for the Valentine's Day contests. I'm delighted you enjoyed. Peace, Lee

Hey Thanks
Comment from Daedalia
This was great. I love the crotchety old man! This story is an exceptional illustration of first person narrative. The recognition is well-deserved.

That was a fun read, first person from a crazy person is always transcending. A person almost wants to stay sometimes just to see where they will go.

I didn't think I'd like this, since I DO love cats. But I love the way you made both the animals and the humans fully-conceived, using few words, and the way you told the story mostly with dialogue. I also liked the various levels of messages you wove within the story, also using as few words as possible, but still getting across your ideas about relationships and what works and what works and live and what doesn't - without TELLING us directly what you believe. Excellent.

Again, Tatarka2, I'm deeply appreciative of way you read my stories. I try to engage readers, allow them to participate instead of being bystanders. I'm delighted that you get it.
I too love cats. Yellow Man and Princess exist in my neighborhood pretty much as I've described. Yellow Man is a feral stray, but several of us leave food out for him. We'd do more, but he requires us to keep our distance.
Again, Tatarka2, thank you for your thoughtful comments.
Peace, Lee

Great story. Great details with imaginative words. I enjoyed reading of your love for Edie. Putting up with cats and all their interesting qualities you showed (not just told) how they affected you but didn't let that affect your love. Kudos!!

Nice story made me smile, like the part about the not wanting the gift just the bringing. The voice you used really caught my attention. Very believable story. Good job thanks for sharing.

I would have given you a 6 for this story, it is wonderful. Edie would be proud! Is this a true story or fiction, it is so well written it could easily be true. Either way, it was a captivating read. (I love cats!) xsx Sandra

Thank you, Sandra, in my own curmudgeonly way, I love cats, too.
The part about Princess and Yellow Man is pretty much true. Princess lives across the street from me and sits in front of the door. Everyday, Yellow Man comes and sits opposite her.
Sherwood and Edie are total fiction--Edie more so than Sher.
I'm delighted you enjoyed the story. Peace, Lee

Loved it. You say it how it is. You also say what many of us are thinking but more often then not keep it under tight wraps. Princess is a nice name if you have to name a cat, Sherwood (Sher) is even better. Very enjoyable reading, thanks for the entertainment.

Hey, a de-light-ful claw full of the Feline Hermitage, complete with oddly named characters that filled the bill.
Actually a toothy portion of a life story that despite the many references to the "Chicken of the Sea," did not smell bad. The reason that I was able to make sense of all this is simple: I also am trapped in a "I love her and she loves cats," situation. None of the three moochers are ours. One belonged to my daughters long-departed boy friend, one belonged to my son's(Also Long-Departed)girl friend, and one was dumped by one of our dubious neighbors-who moved out in the middle of the night( and left the house lights on). So, I suffer the three, love the one, and waste money on cat food.
Great story, purrrty good!

Irish, thank you so much. I have also 'inherited' cats in the name of love. I'm really glad you could relate. Peace, Lee
